This thread is now the "Silmarillion" of the Epic-W Helium launch, haha

And so it was, Red One born of passion and fire yo those long years past. Then though the generations, MX shone upon the landscape, to fade from the spotlight, as Epic ascended the throne. Then, when all seemed known, a Dragon descended from the mountaintops, to reign supreme. But then, A young sibling, a Scarlet-W was conceived in the heart of Hollywood, only to be stopped in it's tracks. But the Scarlet-W in it's fight to escape, begat Epic-W, Brother of Weapon Helium, destined for greatness in the vastness of the world.

This post here should be made sticky to the top so that new people coming to this thread know right away what there are in for! lol

I hope you haven't made up your mind who is getting the cameras yet, Jarred. My gift will hopefully be showing up right when it's needed (cough...10/11). Nothing crazy...just vices that I know I would need to make it through such a day. :)

I say all updates from here on out be written in Tolkien fashion.

Anyone know if inexpensive lenses like Rokinon Cine DS will work on the new EW? Curious about the 8K and all...

Yes.

Get familiar with this tool by Phil Holland. It is your friend for all such questions.

The 8K isn't the issue. The issue is physical sensor size and image circle, not sensor resolution. What you need to know is that the E-W is an s35 sensor.

I have been on a cruise ship working for the last week so today, finally in the hotel, I have read the last 20 pages of this thread you guys are great! This is really a great community and I feel blessed to be part of it!
At Red UK they have been super helpful to give me all the info for the upgrade to Epic W and obviously I am in!
Hope to be able to visit you at Red Hollywood one day!

A little late to the delivery game, but both Jarred and Brent have some goodies from Good Fucking Design Advice coming their way! There was a certain glow-in-the-dark print that I felt was very fitting for Jarred...

There was nowhere to put a message or card... my name will probably be on a packing slip, haha. If it's a box with a bunch of stuff that says "fucking" a lot, it's from me!

I'm new to the RED world but it has been incredible to see how open and communicative you guys are. You've created a community where I know that if I need help I can ask and not only will I get a quick response, that response could be from the man at the top. Cameras aside, that's unparalleled.

Thanks again Brent, Jarred, and the whole RED team.

Okay, I've seen people get their cameras before me and I haven't been a bit jealous. But come on, a sweet sixteen Lagavulin? Plus an 18 year old small batch Glenfiddich? That is some serious Scotch. No matter how much I tell you I love you, don't believe me, Brody B loves you more. If these didn't live to see the light of day, the good really do die young and I am green with envy. Love the clean pure blast of euphoria you get for great Scotch.

OK.. Brody you are my Hero. And your gift is comes at just the perfect time. thank you for thinking of me.

And I know one of these is for Brent but I'm pretty sure it's not gonna make it past the night.

You all are the best.

And a well deserved one to you, Jarred, Jim, Graeme and everyone else at RED. And a very special thank you as well to Hunter Delaney who has done an amazing job of not making me feel like a customer but as a friend. I'm super stoked for you to get your thank you gift next week. There's one for both you and Jarred shipped to Irvine. I'm sure you'll both get some good use out of it. Plus there's that little something extra for you Brent to hang on the wall as that special thank you... You and Jarred can draw straws to see who gets it....

Any time! It was FUN! 1-800 Flowers jacked up my order... so Tuesday it is!

So much giving and so much love. Great to see.

If it would help at all I would be willing to step out of line with my s-w order and go all the way to the back of the line for the same 10k deal on the weapon mg 6k?
