  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The SPINNER really is a BAD A^$#@S EVF mount...So is my Custom CLUTCH Shoulder rig!!

The Brook Willard/ Viewfactor system will have vertical NATO Side Rails, for vertical adjustment. Hopefully the front of the camera will be the perfect spot for the rail an the EVF, and close enough to the camera body.
It will certainly be lightweight.

Ah .... I see.

Thanks!

Looks cool. I think I'll probably end up with a clutch only. Do you think it would adjust well to me, or should I be looking elsewhere?

Thing is I'm still not seeing how you'll get the eyepiece down even with the NATO railing. Maybe I don't understand how you intend to mount the NATO rail

What I really want is to adjust the eyepiece vertical height and horizontal position as well as its angle easily. The Spinner seems to adjust the angle readily, but not the height. The NATO rail seems like it would adjust horizontal position. So, how should we expect to adjust height? Maybe you don't see that as an issue? Maybe I'm not understanding?

The Nato railings can be mounted both Horizontal and vertical to the side rail of the Red Pro top mount with the adjust system, when I find the railings I'll mounted... ;)

I again believe that the Clutch is the best system out there, if it will work for you that I can not say, bat apart from the Pad not adjusting, the Clutch system has no equals.

THANKS KETCH...GOOD LUCK!!

Nice rig Ketch!

I don't have an EVF yet but this Clutch setup I have works really well for handheld. I will definitely try the Spinner when I get my EVF. But I will still keep my ET EVF Mount for when I want to use an EVF Leveler. The rails in the back of the Clutch really helps to lower the CoG with the Brick.

Welcome Raphael... ;)

Thanks Curran, your rig is set up exactly the way I set up ours at first, just that no matter how I try to place the pads, they simply apply pressure to the bones and don't allow
me to hold position for long in off, so I had to ditch them, the the center of gravity was too front heavy and placed the camera on top in back, but no matter what I did my shoulder just could
not adjust to the pad, now finally I have it done, and happy with it, just a matter of testing in the field and finding the perfect positioning... ;)

Ketch,
Glad you finally got your hybrid shoulder rig...you look happy ;-)

I noticed you got the Blueshape BV210. I just ordered mine a few days ago, will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. How long last with your Epic?

Thanks Christian, in deed I did, but now al that is left is still a visit to a local Foam maker, to make the shoulder pad insert for the Mantis Pad holder, better then that Thin hard piece of foam which is still hearing my upper shoulder bone.

Have not tasted to see how long it lasts, but turned on with LCD in stand by lasts about 5 hours.

5 hours in standby is great!! I will be using it with my Red One until I get my Epic X...will see how it behave.

Let us know how works your shoulder mount ahead on time

Thanks Ketch!

Sure thing Christian.

looks like it's forcing you to look up...

Yeah it is, because I just mounted on and not adjusted just in a rush to take some pictures of the entire rig I had customized and assembled, the Spinner piece it self allows for been lowered,
plus there is a missing Swat rail component Matt included in the Kit which is 140mm long and I just could not find it, so is not there, this will allow quite a bit of lowering on the EVF.

I will make sure to post some more pics once I find it and use it on field.

Thanks for posting this, Ketch. I'd kinda wondered about that, since the Mantis has such an adaptable pad. I've never found any other system that will tilt to match the angle of my trapezoids. I'm going to have the same problem with the rear pad of the Clutch, which tilts in the vertical axis, but not the horizontal. My shoulder blades stick out too much, so I'll need to build a wedge to go between rubber RED back-pad and the piece it attaches to.

thx :w00t:

I just love the low height of the ET in combination with the audio riser of action products that to me is a killer combination. Do wish Red would come with one, but I guess with such a great QR they are not going for a bolted on version. And I prefer "as much as possible" red on, so I swap it around a bit easier for different setups.

Just trying to get my red "lego" blocks for my shoulder mount. Your setup has been truly inspiring in that. Love how you not use the bars to mount your handels, real eye opener for me. Thank you for this.

I'm having adjustment issues with my clutch too. I think some extension pieces are in order to get things right. But then again, being 6'5" with broad shoulders tends to make things engineered for most people not fit al that well. Overall, the best shoulder rig out there (preaching to the choir). On a related topic, where is that 'RC car tire' looking piece for the clutch we saw at NAB?

Hey Ketch,

I think this speaks to how well the clutch was engineered. It can be configured in so many ways to meet the demands of pretty much everyone. While it is not inexpensive, like most other things -- you get what you pay for. it is far and away the best rig in terms of build quality and functionality I have had the opportunity to encounter.

RED,

Kudos to all that had a hand in making the Clutch a reality. As an aside, who does your CNC and anodizing work? It is quite good.

Ketch, have you ever tried fitting these together? Looks like it can fit, or is it slightly different alligned?

...And the answer is ... YES!!

Just tried on the newly arrived ET Hybrid plate with custom holes for the mounting of the in Atom upright position... ;)

You are all good Bastiaan
