  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Schedule.

That's great! November is my new favorite month for this year.

Thanks Jim.

That would also be great if I was given the opportunity to put together a more extensive accessory package when available. I mean, I know for sure I want a prime lens set and the announced 50-150mm zoom lens, not yet sure about the 300mm but probably. I just was reluctant to order them all at one time with the money put down, etc. I felt it was best to make a good working package for the 35gs.

BIG QUESTION for NON serial number holders here....

How de we determine our place in line when we do not have a serial number????

Is there some little math I need to know, like add 1500 to some part of my order number which is 392551243??? Sorry if this has been answered but I feel a tad bit in the dark as we are also planning our 08’ schedule (we do know its 08).

Anyways...Thanks Jim for updates and good luck with all. :)

Best

Non-serial numbers were "timestamped" the moment people placed their order when it opened back up for us (NAB 2007) and those timestamped numbers weren't given out. Order "numbers" (like 392551243) don't count--its all about the timestamps.

There are like 1450-1500 early reservationists. I ordered mine at 9:03am Monday, 1st day of NAB 2007 and got timestamped then (thats what they told me over the phone).

Thanks Jim that's good news, however as we have only been provided witha receipt number.... how do we know the serial number of our camera?

Could you please adivse, thanks.

A suggestion, Jim - if you are trying to get some numbers on accessories like batteries, (I was planning on 2. Now, 4 after some specs came out ) - I'm sure if you sent a formal e-mail to us reservation holders on what we are planning on buying (rather than depositing and reserving now) - most of us would gladly fill out the forms for you to give you a much more accurate account.

I'm sure you'd like to know lcd vs viewfinder or both, buyers there are - just ask us our plans... I haven't reserved, since I assume you will have both at the time of my early number. If not, then formally ask us to reserve. Thanks!

PS - Many of us would love RED - T-SHIRTS ETC... and you guys are all busy... would it be alright if we set up a www.cafepress - and put some RED logos on T-shirts? It's free advertising. If you want a royalty - cafepress and us can give you all the sales numbers and send you royalty payments.

And when you are ready for merchandise, just ask us to stop or cafepress and its over or take over our business. I'd love a RED spider and logo on my coffee cup, clock and t-shirt.

Does this mean that for serial numbers 701 - 1200, we have untill December 10th to cancel and get the deposit back?

Or auction it off if you don't want it. Maybe someone would pay to move up the line?

Since there were about 1500 reservations, and there's now about 2000 sold, then anyone whose's put a deposit down since the start of NAB 2007 is somewhere between number 1500 and 2000, approximately, which puts you at mid-January to mid-February, estimated ship date.

thanks for the update Jim.

This is good news and bad for me. I have decided to shoot a low-budget feature on the HVX tentatively starting in November. It would be hard to shoot with the HVX knowing that any day my RED could come in, but I need to shoot December at the VERY latest or wait two years to get the same kind of location again. :(

I guess I'm not sure whether I'm going to want the camera until it's fully functional, so maybe I'll just suck it up and shoot with the HVX and wait until the RED is full-featured, save some money and shoot another.

Now, I just have to sell my house. Anybody want to buy a house in the desert? :)

Best,

Jason

Forget that man, I'm just selling those extra internal organs you don't really need. I mean who needs TWO lungs, anyway? One was clearly put there to help you purchase expensive things. Maybe someone will buy my appendix too, don't see any use for that thing. One of the kidneys has gotta go. Hopefully after those sales I'll be able to afford a prime lens set. haha, j/k.

Thanks for the update.

I've decided, instead of looking to purchase my own Red (or other camera) for my next feature (August '08), I'll just hire a few guys who've had a year or so with theirs (listen to me, I sound like I'm some sort of hot shot). Again, budget pending -- I might have to settle for some HVX200 owners if funding doesn't go well. :)

Good to know that there will in fact be a lot of folks on the market that will indeed have a good chunk of experience. I hope to hire a couple guys that have the full version of the RED, though.

You could always rent in Dec... That's what I may do since I'm in the same situation... or maybe do a swap! Like, if someone needs my camera after January for a 2 camera shoot, and can give up theirs for 2 weeks in Dec, that would be ideal... Any takers? PM me.

I'll hook you up. ;)

Thanks for the update Jim!

Serial numbers 301- 700 November 10th (400 units).

For #694 fits perfect .

Thanks Jim, that's an awful ambitious schedule. You puppies are going to be busy. With the feature betas, and early testers like Gibby and friends, things are really going to start jumping around here.

Hope you allow a little time to breath and spend with your family (your OTHER family.)

It will be an honor to give you my money sir. I will do every thing in my power to help you succeed.

Good Luck.

aloha,

Keith

Well, hey! Looks like I'm getting mine right around my birthday! I love December. Santa just needs to bring me one gift this year, with a big red bow on top!

Good luck with the rest of development, RED team. Don't worry about us... We're all still here. ;)

That's always possible. The Phoenix area will have a good number of cameras around.

The problem is that my feature isn't really RED budgeted. My impatience is forcing me to get it "in the can" for about $25k. Tight to say the least.

Good idea though. Thanks.

Yippeee!! Looks like I still can get mine this year. :)

A big thanks to Jim and the rest of the RED team for keeping the project on course and keeping us all in the loop.

Well, at least this gives me time to really use my HV20!

Actually, this works out pretty good because, based on my production classes before, I probably won't start filming until November anyway.

Can't wait!

Serial numbers 1701- 2200 February 10th (500 units)

I think I'm somewere in there - it's my birthday on the 6th of feb. - just imagine the postman ringing on that day:clown2:
