The RED one was released 4 years ago. You could upgrade (and still can) a RED ONE to RED ONE M-X.
The RED ONE M-X was used to shoot "The Social Network", which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography in 2010. It was used on Pirates 4 which has grossed over $1B worldwide. It was used on "Contagion". It is being used on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".
The RED ONE M-X is current. It is historic. It is a camera that continues to have value. You can shoot "greatness" today on a RED ONE M-X.

The ones that didn't get it have closed their doors.
Thanks.
Here here. The RED ONE single handedly pays 1/2 our bills EVERY month. with the SSD upgrade its so BAD ASS. Indies LOVE the Red One and we are so excited to be kicking the 5D's ass with her on Indie features.
I am NEVER selling my R1 because its still the 2nd best digital cinema camera in the world imho
Very very true... for those doing classic cinematography.
But I nearly killed myself lugging the weight of a RED ONE kit up Etna... EPIC/Scarlet can't come soon enough for me, purely on grounds of weight and size!

Will there ever be a Red Two?
When I brought my Red One to Egypt, many people I encountered did not want to work with it, they didn't understand the workflow and preferred shooting with lesser-capable cameras. In the last 2 years, I have changed that. My R1 stays constantly busy now.
We love the RED ONE and will continue to support it like a Queen.
