  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The RED ONE M-X...

Hear me when I say this folks.. It is exactly things like the MX upgrade that strikes blood-cold fear into the hearts of Sony and Panasonic. They can make great cameras no doubt, but their whole business model is based on you guys buying a WHOLE NEW CAMERA every 2 or 3 years. The fact that RED offered an upgrade and the fact that the sensor (This is big) was the SAME as the next gen camera, all for less than $6k..

My friends, this is really what separates the companies right there.

Of course, Epic is being built to be even more upgradeable.

On the DVX forum, somone asked for an upgrade to the menu system of the AF-100.. And it got some traction.. Then someone finally piped in and said "Panasonic does not upgrade it's cameras, they only send out bug fixes.. You will need to wait for the next version for that". The next reply was: "Well... RED Upgrades all the time...."

Youch.

Don't get me wrong, I love Panasonic.. I am a MAJOR fan of them, and I like the AF-100.. But I prefer RED'S business model 1000x over.
