  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The RED library...

This thread is going to keep me up all night Thanks RED!!!!
(for the great cameras) :-)

A huge thank you, Jim, to you and the team. Have been shooting with my Epic for the last couple of weeks so that I can properly introduce my camera over here, and have been amazed at every single shot I've taken with it. I can't even imagine what you guys have up your sleeve to improve this even further... Today I just went completely stealth, with my shoulder bag, 2 canon lenses, no tripod, doing "street videography". With IS, I've taken absolutely wonderful (to my eye) 5K pictures. And, to all (but a few photo enthusiasts), this was just another "photo camera"- what this means is natural reaction from people. Really unbelievable. 5K guerrilla street videography. Incredible!

6 years ago we knew nothing. We started from scratch. From zero.

Over the past few years we have been building a library... one that can be built upon.

Every day that goes by we learn something. We log it in and move forward... compiling.

I expect it won't be long before we actually know what we are doing... :-)

Thanks for your patience. In return... we'll upgrade you. N/C.

Jim

Oh good, an open source library I can build my own camera from :)

That's a great idea! You should sell this information as eBooks for iPad and Kindle!

Having this information downloadable in one place would be spectacular, and would set a very high standard for all the other manufacturers to follow.

While I do hope RED has their own corporate wiki, I would almost hope they dont open it up, and doubt they would. I've been made aware of the existence of such a wiki once, they really can be incredible documents. It can be funny how easy it is to see patterns or holes (opportunities) when you put enough information about an industry / technologies in one place.

Personally, Im perfectly happy to just see what products come out of the research... I'll pay for it then, that way :D

Happy to be patient

I am always impressed by your willingness to state how little you knew at the start, and very happy to hear that a knowledge base is being built in the form of a Library.

To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge.

Thank you Jim, Jarred and the WHOLE RED team for your hard work and for the remarkable instruments you have given us! Looking forward to the RED party in Vegas!
