To keep the axis centered takes a rig that is much bigger.
Jim
I thought about this, roughly ...
... with THIS CAMs CONFIGURATION and its dimensions, it would need about a 28 mm bigger radius of the gliding element (estimated, given a 77 mm diameter of the lens)
In order to make ALL CAM CONFIGURATIONS centered, it would need an X and Y sliding mount to match the center of the glide and the lens, which would make it much bigger ...
Having a fixed "position mount insert" for each cam model ...
it suddenly becomes much more useful, ...
... for still as well as motion photography

EPIC.
Nice diagram Detler,
I would like to add my vote to having the lens stay on axis makes for this tool to be far more useful than if it does not remain on axis. Also, Detlev's diagram shoes the rig would not need to be that much bigger.
One word.
HOLY SHIT!
Regardless of minutae it definitely shows you guys are thinking about the needs and attacking the problems as users who foresee what issues will arise in usage and design.
keep it coming...

Another thing. What if the side handle grip were removed and a different mounting bracket for the camera brain were used? Seems the R90 rig would accommodate that configuration and allow for rotation around the optical axis...
