The pitfalls...

Well, you need to save some of that content for your book!

Someday people might want to know a little about the man who forever changed the motion picture industry ;-)

I am feeling quite insecure tonight. I started Oakley with $300. Then RED. And no one wants to hear how both happened. What's up with that? :-)

Jim

You've got to be pulling our leg, surely.

And about "Built in America", I seem to recall reading an article about you, before Red, describing some of the pitfalls you had to go through with Oakley (and shoes). Funny how things change.

Oh, well... back to work.

Jim

Well we COULD do a RedUser driven documentary. Between us all there are surely enough willing hands, minutes and cameras to put together a great little piece.

And wouldn't it be great if it all culminated with a technical achievement award at the oscars for Epic? :)

You remind me of Walt Disney Mr. Jannard. Very few work as hard and invest as much to create something truly new that changes the world for the better.

Just observation, not flattery.

Jim. I and I know so many others truly appreciate not only your honesty but your dedication to this project. RED is the best thing to happen to this industry in a very long time and I applaud your efforts. As you know, what you and your team are doing is truly groundbreaking and is pushing our technology forward at a much accelerated pace.

I feel truly lucky to be able to follow the development process along the way, I have learned so much over the last year or two and I feel like this Journey's final destination is getting nearer and nearer and is well worth the wait.

Thanks for your perseverance and your willingness to go with your "gut."

Jim,

as I already said before for me you can take as much time as you would need to finish this project according to all those pitfalls, etc,...

During that long time I'm patiently waiting and of course my backpack will be empty till a day when I can finally fill it with Epic or Scarlet S35

then continue "my off-road way" to shoot.

My backpack is still empty but patiently waiting for Epic or Scarlet S35: Cannondale Hardtail Flash Carbon 5 shot on 7D with Leica Summicron-R 35mm f/2.0.

After watching TSN again... it reminded me of the time I had one of those "give back" moments and volunteered to speak to the students at Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UCLA and my old almost Alma Mater... USC. I never heard back from any of them. Since they are the premier institutions in the land, you guys shouldn't pay much attention to what I say. They didn't seem to care much... I guess they teach "real" marketing and business principles. :-)

Jim

We should and can make something happen at Alma Mater. I'm sorry whomever you spoke to dropped the ball, but I know for sure that the knowledge-hungry students would make it happen. I've attended tons of guest speakers and was part of hosting some too. Between the cinema and b-school and the hybrids, we'd have to turn people away.

I actually talked to you about this at the first Cinegear Red attended formally. I hope I can contact you because the ones you want to talk to (assuming the student filmmakers, engineers and entrepreneurs) would love the opportunity.

Jim

You don't know how much fun it was for me to listen to you just talk about business around those tables at the RED Day in the Tropicana Hotel. That was definitely the highlight of my week at NAB.

Okay, call me a RED fanboy. I don't care. The stuff they do intrigues me...

Vision and balls

Jim

Back to work Jim......and maybe you can write a book!
I bought my RED ONE because i looked (google enz.)you up and was convinced that you would be a man with a vision and the balls to make this work. So i invested the money for a camera wich was only on paper and coming from your mouth....... The best thing i ever did in my work!! Keep on working, open the market and write a book!! ........ and give us the Epic! :-))

best regards

I wonder if the Harvard brass is as dumb as portrayed in TSN?

Jim

Don't worry Jim. We got your 6.
We are all way to deep in this.
We all can't turn back on this.
We will stay it through together, once again.

Cause we know what's coming.

Thanks
Tim

There are interesting comparisons to be made between career academics and those who make things happen in the real world.

[No offense meant to the academics here. I think you'd agree.]

While working towards my PhD thesis my mentor -who is also a genious- advised me once: "Human beings are primate animals. Their main mechanism to learn is to copy and mimic. But this has nothing to do with science and creativity. Make sure you don't follow this path." And he, a mathematician, was talking of academic people.

I'm saying, as RDC does not follow such a path of primates, many people do not know how to deal with that. Instead, they get confused.

That's why God invented podcats. Grab a mic! :)

You could share your story with more people than any lecture hall could hold.
