  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The 9" LCD sounds awesome. Hopefully I'll get to see it up close at NAB, along with many other things.

I hope so. I really want to get a set, but I don't know how soon I can afford it. Anamorphics are gonna be great too, hopefully I can pick them up eventually when they come out too!
 
What is the timeline of the AL PL mount ?

Ketch, where did you get the markings done in Germany? Looking for a German Matt Duclos kind a guy... though I'd rather get my business to Matt, some things can't be done because of customs etc.

Hey Patrick, the lenses are not here yet, and I didn't do nothing yet of course, I can't say anything at this time, but since I'l be visiting few places in Germany,
including Leica, and Briese, as part of a person to person introduction with some of the serious Manufacturer that will play a role in our new facilities.

I'll be sure to post asap as I do have available info, but with all do respect to Duclos, as they have done a fantastic job on my previous RPP set, this guys,
are on a different level here in Germany and also different price understandably.

My goal here is to see the cost to turn e set of RPP's in to as close as possible to a Master Prime or Leica set, as fart as Focus Markings quantity and positioning as well as design,
a kind of RPP's by Ketch Rossi... ;)
 
I'm in the process of getting some RPP but got a little nervous about Jared's comment. Now I see the 50mm nor the set are in the RED store anymore. Are they getting discontinued?

They are no longer there as a Set, but all the lenses can be purchased Individually... Till supplies last???

Really, we have no idea what RED is cocking, but for me, if the RPP's were to be gone, I don't mind, I know that what RED would sale to substitute would be more expensive, but also even better lenses would be offered, possibly to cater to the higher end Motion Picture industry, getting closer and closer to the Arri kind??

Well, it seems the 50 is gone...
 
We're waiting on a set as well as an 18mm (submitted our order on the tenth) and I hope that we got our order submitted in time.
 
We placed an order for the complete RPP Set and the 18mm on Friday, and today I notice the changes in the store. Not to mention the wild speculations here on the forum.. I cant help feeling worried because if these primes are discontinued and replaced by lighter/faster versions any time now, I am going to regret that we didn’t wait..
We were originally looking at Arri LDS Ultra's because of their compact size and the LDS system, but when we got word from Arri that RED don’t support their LDS and current delivery time is one year from now!, we had to look for alternative solution’s. As many of you have stated, there is nothing wrong with the RPP's and with this price they are really a steal. Only problem is the size and weight. Some of our work will among other things include a 3D setup in a Nettmann Stab C Compact gyro so size and weight matters.
And also getting a hold on two sets of primes, with the original RPP's of the market i see this becoming a problem too...

I'm going to be glad I did wait because I doubt there's anyway I could afford the new lenses. But with new lenses on the market there's bound to be a lot of used Red Primes being put up for sale that I can snatch up at a discounted price...
