  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

You are best to get RPP's while you can..
 
Actually the the RPP's are in BO now, forgot to ask my Bomb Squad rep expected out of BO dates.

Which btw shows you how wrong some assumptions are that this lenses are not selling in high numbers,
and for the Performance/Price ratio, build, look, and fill of the glass, its no surprise they can't keep them in Stock either... ;)


Oh... I'm regretting at list once a week to have sold my Set which I carefully added Focus Markings to with Matthew Duclos... :(


A new RPP set looks like might be making its way to Germany on its way home to Rome, were it will receive a high class Adding of Focus Markings... ;)
 
I love my Red Pro Primes... The look I have gotten from other DP's who look at the images they make has been of marvel. They cannot believe what I own for the price I paid. OUTSTANDING TEAM RED!

not all of them are in BO.

And anyone who thinks the RPP program is not successful is out of their mind... :)
 
Any hint on when we might see new additions to the RPP family?

Okay, this means that if you buy the set, then they can ship what is in stock and ship the ones in BO later?

Oh, actually I just seen that the only one in BO is the 50mm, understandably... ;)

Yeah, tell me about it... I have been telling people how Idiots they are not to take more seriously such great lenses, only because they are not made by Arri or Cooke!!

And oh yeah, don't get me started on the 18-85 and 300mm, on which BTW some insane detail Super Extreme Closeup images, shots on it with the +3 Diopter,
are coming of it soon, if this don't show the Sharpness, Detail, contrast and over all extremely well control artifacts.

BUt as more and more this lenses get used by the Big boys (not me I'm a little guy) then the public perception will change, but mostly is just the bitching of need
more focus markings buy the focus pullers, that is IMO the only factor they can have at times, and only depending on way of use.

As we revamp the site with a HUGE server, we'll bring a series of VIDEOREVIEWS, of course the RPZ 18-85mm and RPP 300mm will be my first lenses to review,
followed by the all set of RPP's... ;)

I have a M8 and some lenses. Epic owner and scarlet ordered, would love to pull M mount Scarlet out the bag while shooting. Quick question, that lovely 6Hrs in Jakarta shoot you did, was it shown to leica? I am trying to get a project off the ground for them and was interested to know.

Plus have you got a Rocket PCI to TB connection sorted yet? Trying to Magma to send me the 3T but they tell me RED needs to develope the drivers......

Thanks for all the details, it definitly helps for planning purposes. I know you guys, and gals (where are the Red ladies, Kelly we miss you...) don't want to talk about products to come, but you already have talked about the Redmote Pro and a Proxy Module. Are these still in the pipelines and for when? These are extensions of existing products (our camera brains), it would be nice to know if we should wait for Red implementation or look at the third party solutions.

Hi Giles,

the Leica "M" glass will sure be nice on Epic/Scarlet, and will open new horizons for image capture quality in Still Glass.

The relationship with Leica is bringing new projects to life, that to say they'll AMAZE is to understate greatly my words... All NDA at this time... ;)

As I am setting up a small but HIGH TECH Post station at home in Rome, while we get the Studios together, I'm waiting at this point for NAB.

It is always my pleasure when I can help answer any questions from fellow filmmakers... ;)

As far as moving from Still glass, to Cine glass... Its not the easiest move over... However once you get used to the size and weight differences, and forget about Auto Focus...

You'll enter in to a new world of IQ image, and build of the lenses like you head not experience before, all of which is true to the RPP's as well, despite their very low cost.

Hmmm.

Ray was at NAB last year... Where a certain Mr. English told me the Ray Pro would be shipping "a few weeks after NAB". Of course he didn't say *which* NAB... :-)

As for glass... The 50-150 was silently dropped, the 300mm in metric has disappeared from the store without fanfare, the 50mm is 'out of stock' and Jarred is dropping hints. Now I find it hard to believe RED could improve the price, performance, or price/performance of the RPPs much, so I don't see 'RPP mk2' - maybe the big deal at NAB *will* be the RED electronic mount, and a range of glass to use with it...

Not sure what to make of Ketch using the L word... Leica and RPP are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to price... Anything involving Leica will for sure NOT replace RPP!

Thanks for posting the dates!

Any clue on the Epic Stage 3.5? You and red.com mentioned the shipping of Stage 4 but I still haven't gotten my 3.5 upgrade.

Don't worry, Arseni. As a fellow Stage 3.5 owner, you and I are in the same boat.

Red is currently midway through Stage 3 ... and Stage 3.5 might start in a month or two. Since they are producing Epics faster than they can properly inspect Red Ones, Stage 4 Epics are being shipped when Stage 3 and 3.5 cameras are not waiting for brains.

You'll get an e-mail when it's time to ship your Red One in. In the meantime ... shoot it while you've got it.
 
A question about side handle situation. I ordered mine on December 27th. I heard "best case scenario it could be sent out tomorrow, worst case April". Does that mean I could be waiting till April?....Looking for some clarification. No pressure. Just looking forward to using it. Thanks
