  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Meizler Module... The Details.

Just crossing a few t's and dotting a few i's on price and duration, guys. Once we have it wrapped up, we will email all with Meizler orders to see if they want to add it on. From there, will be like the brains where you have to order at time of purchase.

Meizler Module RED Armor now available on RED.com (Extended Warranty tab). If you already placed an order, you will get an email next week to ask if you want to add to your order. Moving forward, to take advantage of RED Armor, you need to add at time of purchase.

Already got it... ;)

PS: the Meizler is a truly complicated piece of gear, in its own way similar to the Epic it self, so don't be on the fence on this, get the RED ARMOR!!

Looks like a few more ports and possibilities than we see in the Meizler thread.

I'm just wondering if the prices for the receivers and sync box that are part of this kit are staying steady??

Does this mean the 19mm rods can not be going in underneath the camera?

I was hoping the meizler would have the quickplate in it's bottom without offsetting the camera. It' kind of ruins it for our current setup.

Was really close to pull the trigger on a meizler wireless today after having had our milo like a dog on a leach with long BNC's hanging for much to long now.

But I do not really like the way the meizler make the camera so much longer, I wish now when red have the tech that they do kind of a "+1 +wireless"module. I really would need somthing like it. The recivers look really nice but the miezler is simply to big to make sense on our rig as it moves the camera so much forward and does not let it slip onto 19mm rods it seams like.

Can somebody confirm that it do, or do not work with the quick plate and 19mm setup going passed the camera like in my picture above...

I was under the impression that with the Meizler I'd be going back to the standard 19mm wedge plate from my old R1. Total speculation though.

The pictures from that new rod adapter make it look like you can't get front/back locks installed. When using motors I like to have front+back motors to secure the rods and keep the motors in place.

Hi,

(your fecebook picture is unaccesible so this is speculation)

but you probably can mount 1 MEIZLER MODULE ROD ADAPTOR 19MM at the front and one at the back to have rods front and back.

There is probably no way of both having motor cables run underneath the camera and have a DSMC quick release Style connector at the bottom of the Meizler. Looking at the 2-3mm height of the dsmc plate, how could there be wires going through it. so red had to decide.

but i must say their solution now to just raise the rods again up with the rod adaptor is pretty smart! problem almost perfectly solved without too many compromises.

what i think are the remaining little engineering compromises: ( and very welcome would be some comments from Red if i am correct or to chime in on some additional Gear that might solve this: )

1. changing to shooting whitout meizler again needs you also to screw other rod adaptors on again, but thats workable somehow

2. Clutch Front Handles attachment:

right now how does the clutch fit here? and also always keep in mind that you often need to change between handheld and tripod without having to screw half of the rig apart for 10 minutes:

the front collarbone with handles has to go somewhere...
- either slide it on the rods ( which means removing 19mm production matte box, motors etc, recalibrating...
- try to keep an extra old DSMC UNIVERSAL MOUNT 19MM in front of the MEIZLER MODULE ROD ADAPTOR 19MM and try to screw on the collarbone each time (thight space there when a lens is on so not so practical.)
- or best solution i can think of if it works: having an old DSMC UNIVERSAL MOUNT 19MM with an collarbone right to the front of the dsmc quick release module... then screw on the new meizler 19 mm in front of that.. all good.
----> Can anybody confirm that this will work... screwing the MEIZLER MODULE ROD ADAPTOR 19MM additionally in front of the old DSMC UNIVERSAL MOUNT 19MM

3. The Shoulder Piece of the Clutch... does it fit underneath the Meizler ?
Does not seem so, without for example an additional Offset Screw-on Piece that lowers the Shoulder Piece ?
(btw, it would be so cool if red would offer replacement rubber shoulder pads to buy without having to buy the whole shoulder piece with the metal parts ... the rubber sometimes just gets damaged or worn off ---> or even more fantastic: a GEL PAD :001_cool:)

(here there is one DSMC UNIVERSAL MOUNT 19MM missing behind the quick release module, but that should not really change too much i think )

Or as the Hoff once said:
I've been looking for freedom... cannot wait for Meizler to arrive and use it Handheld... with wireless freedom !!! :)

Remember to forget everything you know about this module as it's being redesigned.

Hm, I really wonder what they mean with that. I get the feeling that we will see a completely new product that looks very different and probably has a bit different features. I wonder if they are doing the same for Dragon sensor. Looking forward to more interesting information when its ready to be released.
