With a bit of Daniel Stilling's NASA footage sprinkled in ( also shot on Dragon )

What an amazing oportunity this was. DP'ing the Florida unit for this movie was a blast. And seeing it mixed in with footage from such amazing artistic genius, is nothing short of breathtaking.
I used an Epic and a Scarlet, both Dragons on this. These cameras just rock.

This looks absolutely amazeballs. That trailer was gorgeous! I remember being totally engrossed in the ebook back when it cost only $2 thinking why doesn't Hollywood make movies about these kinds of awesome stories. Still can't believe I'll be able to see this come to life on the big screen with such an awesome cast and filmed on an amazing camera that little old me has the means to own. All I can say is Fuck yeah!

"I'm going to have to science the shit out of this." My new goto line.

Understand if you don't want to give away too many secrets, but would love to know how you got the gig!

I love the look and feel of this film, has a very consistent feel on all the shots. I pretty much try to copy/learn from Dariusz and what ever he does with RED, i am looking forward to studying every scene of this (hopefully they will allow a bunch of background info eventually). I like how the cinematography is mixed with the story, feels like a slightly different story board & editing approach, would love to see how that was done.

Awesome. Jarred, do you know if this was done native 3D?

Most of it was filmed in native 3D. 6 rigs set up. 3 with wide zooms and 3 with long zooms. Whenever a lens change was in order, change the rig, not the lens :)
the stuff I shot in FL was shot in 2D to be converted in post. We decided to go 2D since some of the shots would be a one take only kinda thing and others I shot in really confined and hard to reach spaces inside the VAB.

Which zooms?

That is how you cut a trailer....damn...beautiful work by all involved!

Looks great!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like there was more than the typical amount of post sharpening, but I think it worked well for the overall look.

Edit:
I'm asking in order to learn how the look was achieved. Not criticizing it.

WOW. That looks amazing - on all levels, creative, and technical. Dragons looks AMAZING here - truly.

I'm very impressed. And very proud of team RED! (I don't normally feel that way about trailers).
