  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"THE MACHINE" - gyrostabilized shoulder mount

christmas is good excuse for anything & for business.. even for purchases for work use.. nice  nice rig btw seems a bright marriage.. the girl is sexy

Here's a few questions (not to make myself sound stupid), but how would this rig look with a camera set up on it? Does the camera hang down from the Gimbal, or above it, or some other way? Also, this looks like a shoulder rig, where do you set the rig on your shoulder?

Sorry, just having a hard time envisioning this thing in a practical application.

Constantine has shown us a nice render of a potentially very interesting rig. If he wants to call it "Terrorist," that's fine with me. He can call it "Axe Murderer on Crack" for all I care, as long as the product kicks ass and is cost effective. I think we are getting sidetracked here.

Constantine, I think a lot of us are interested to see more renders (with Epic X or Red One?) to understand the scale, and some photos with Red One once you have a prototype? Will you be at NAB by any chance, or have a demo rig there?

I think (hope) I've managed to understand it from looking at the photographs and renders but it did take me a while, but I think some guys are still struggling to work out what it is and how it can be used. More info renders and descriptions would be a good thing to clarify the device and its capabilities.

I think Constantine has found a good way of creating discussion about his product.
Personally, I think you should give it a Greek name. Something with γύρος, perhaps?

Constantine, will it also work without the gyros, like your previous model?
Is it meant to be a replacement for the Acrobat as well?

ha ha ha nice one Roberto LOL,
Anyhow, Pietro yer its an much better version of HR-1 Deluxe and here is a quick review from Peter Karlsoon and his impression so far about his HR-1d

I've just received my Running Rig from Constantine. And I simply loooove it! Constantine, has been working very hard with this product, and it shows. Great quality overall, and a very very nicely balanced rig! Even though Constantine ran into some minor production problems along the way, he wrote to me almost everyday it seems informing be about the process. I am very grateful to the way he treats his customers, and he even tried the rigs with a Red on top before shipping to check that it behaves as expected. Its not very usual that someone goes into this much trouble checking that everything is top notch before shipping.

Today I assembled the Rig (Had to wait until I got some longer battery cables). And I was simply amazed about how perfect the balance felt. Also panning with the camera felt very comfortable from start (compared to when I tried a smaller steady cam system for the first time.. ouch it was just a big frustration..)

I can only give the running rig five big stars! And Im already looking forward to the new upgrades Constantine is working on. To quote mr T. -Your a fool not to order one!

I will upload some images soon!

/Regards Peter K

Peter Karlsson is online now Report Post

Now expect some more surprises today.!

Tom L I thought I change the name so everybody is happy, to me is important to have a nice performer and good product rather than just a name, who ever deals with me so far knows that, so never mind about the name.

thanks:thumb_postwhore:

Well I would very much prefer that you buy this product because is a very creative and usefull tool rather than a name.
and I would also like to have some tech talk instead of name talk.
Anyhow if you still want it just for the naMe I will engrave one rig with it , just place your order LOL

Constantine,

I'm very interested about your xxxxx, do you plan to have a show in Switzerland/Europe?

Would love to try it out... and buy it if it suites my needs.

Patrick

PS: Are the gyro a must have? I'm a little bothered by the noise of those things and additional weight. How is the ballance of your stabilizer? Looking at your videos it seams that it has a heavy front weight.

Hi Constantine - I would suggest a new thread, leave this old one behind, too much noise...

My questions - do you have any current users of the HR-1 in the US that can demo it? What are your plans for NAB? A booth? Offsite demo?

I'd really like to see one of these in action - the 10% pre-order discount is a nice temptation - but would you be willing to extend this same offer during the NAB demo period? just asking, because that is how Gearnex did it - I was able to get my hands on the prototype at NAB, and that was enough to convince me that it was going to be a great product, even though it wasn't finished. Ordering without seeing is a bit too much of a leap of faith.

I can understand what you say, but Gearnex is much closer to you than Iam country wise speaking..
My current HR-1 DELUXE owners are in Europe and Australia.
There is also my very first prototype version in USA CA , but that was made for much smaller cams. I ll ask you to wait and see mre stuff coming up later on this month from the users, including vids, and I will let you know about NAB when I have a schedule.
Iam only a small business trying to expand and its always hard in the start. I just going to have and see about offers, ts alredy a cost effective product.
Still Iam very satisfied with the results, and Iam always working as hard as I can to assist and support my customers.
Thank you for your interest.

I'm thinking about the counter weight... would it be possible to have a back belt that could attach your rotary shoulder mount to a "device" that would level the camera like for fluid head counter weight?

Just trying... :out:

Hello , I had a lot of inquires about THE MACHINE rig, considering discounts and delivering time so..
I have decided because this is new, I will add an extra 5% to the 10% discount offer for Christmas for orders until the end of December total 15%.Wish I could do better but costs are rising everyday.
Delivery dates for order will be including Christmas holidays around 5-6 weeks from the day of order and down payment.
As for the HR-1 DELUXE Iam afraid I can only do 10% cut deal. But for the VF owners I will give a free back and rod mount as pictured , for one man operation. Now thats a Christmas present isnt it?
Thank you all for your interest.
I promise you wont be disappointed.

Thanks for clearing the naming thing, Constantine.

Nice rig you have there.

It think it would be very useful to lower the center of gravity. It may also present eye-view framing issues with higher shooters. RED has high COG as is and it would seriously help if the rig was designed to lower it as much as possible.

Maybe the part I market with red could be reduced in hight, whether it's the plate, or other mounts. If it's not a large financial investment try to see if you can design the shoulder pad the for central CF rod to pass through its upper hard surface. That would reduce the need for that adapter between it and the main central rod, plus lower the COG.

If there is tilt ability there - maybe you could make the surface of the shoulder pad concave in radius equivalent to the sensor/shoulder distance (marked in cyan). With a matching rail/adapter that would enable natural looking sideways tilt. That is far fetched I know, but anyway.

I also suggest additional foam pads for handles and handle angle control.

The shoulder pad on the MACHINE is not the actuall one you see on the render its another one that expands both sides and locks around your chest with snap on shoft padding belt, so the system is all very secured and stable on your shoulder. What you do is just connect with snap on attachment th rig on the shoulder pad like you connect a steadicam sled on an arm, and the shoulder pad stays mounted on your body.

Excellent. I'm guessing it won't be too deep and arm/body movement restrictive. Down to about half or 1/3rd of chest muscles might be okay.

Just noticed your design Hrvoje, that wont work, its not just the camera that rolls its the total rig,and it makes the system limited in roll angle as well as making it wide enough at the shoulder point to have contact with your neck as well as it cant be balanced well in the roll axis. Nice thought as seen in remote heads but doesnt work here Iam afraid.
Cheers

I'm not sure if I got you right, but I meant it for the whole rig to roll, just the shoulder pad to be fixed.
Concerning shoulder point width, I guess I was counting on the shorter distance between shoulder and sensor axis, which would enable narrow enough base on the shoulder.

I see, thanks for the clarification.
