I thought it was just a particular lens but now I notice that the left-side of the frame is mildly soft while the right is in sharp focus. I am using the Red PL mount and I have tried both primes and a Red Zoom. Is there a quick fix for this?

Thanks.

Sounds like your lens mount may be out of plane with your sensor, meaning that the lens is not sitting flat relative to the sensor. This would be a Red service issue. It is also a good example of one of the many reasons not to transport a camera with a lens attached (not saying that you did...).

Mitch nailed it... something sounds off with your PL mount. Get in touch with customer support and we will check it out for you.

You might also try removing the PL mount to see if the lens data cable is trapped under it before sending it off. Sure sounds like the mount is not seated correctly.

Actually, this is probably not a good idea. If there is damage then the threads of the mounting screws could have warping or other issues. If you open it up and make a mess then you void your warranty. If RED does then they take care of it.

If the cable was actually trapped under one side then it would be screamingly obvious what the issue was. But if your camera is out of plane by just a few microns then this can be enough to see this issue. In the end the adjustment is likely not to be in resetting the mount but in resetting the mounting of the sensor panel. Not sure on the RED but this is how it is done on other similar cameras. (Yes, there ARE other similar cameras!)
