  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

Yep, me too. after doing some math, and seeing the latest allocation being order numer 1117, I am at MOST 75 orders away, but I have no idea how many eventtees bought a scarlet in that time, so I could be 2 orders away, or 75. But they could also be PL and TI Canon.

Idk, I've just been bumped around to a new Bomb Rep, hopefully that means something good for me.

Got bumped too...really sad since my last rep was the best rep I've had and understood my payment methods so everything was a breeze...we'll see though, hopefully, like you said, it means good things

Think about it... the Ti PL mounts have been in healthy production for quite awhile, so those are easily available and ready on demand.

The Ti Canon mounts have highest priority to go to the customers that ordered them months ago before they start shipping on Scarlets.

The Al mount is last. Pretty simple.

Chill out and wait for the coming update.

Well, not arguing but just saying...each of those mounts would have its own line...that would be rather weird for them to say Dec 1st Al shipping when they know that the Ti Mount would only be out of most of its backorder (according to last update) around sometime this week...

Like I said, I don't mind...I'd love to know why but really I can understand RED are itching to get these out as much as we want them...it sucks for those that have planned things, I planned stuff in Jan and shifted it to Feb...I need it definitely by March...

With that said...I doubt its the mounts...if Al mount was last priority the first 2 wouldnt have even shipped OR the event guys would've got theres and us non-events would still be holding out...so....conspiracy theories and all aside, I know the RED team are doing their best. We all do I'm sure.

These theories just help ease the wait I guess and give reasonings where there is silence and the end of the week seems as long a wait as did the Nov3rd announcement for many

Theory #1 - The Al mounts have hit a snag in production and the few that went out are the ones they got to "play around with" in the beginning.

Theory #2 - The Grinch has broken into Red and stolen all the Al mounts to ruin all the Who.. I mean our Christmases.

Arnold F., I hope that isn't the case.

I understand the Scarlet is semi future proof which is why I bought it for production and also to have my 2nd company cineZEN USA build accessories around it too, but if we are expected to wait until Feb, March, April, someone better please notify us asap as that would be very upsetting for us to sit and wait anywhere near even another month without a heads up. Remember, we are not asking for definitive dates as we all know RED will not provide these, however at this point, almost a month into shipping some, they seem to be barely getting out in real numbers yet.

When looking at lens companies like Cooke, Zeiss, etc, they are on major backorder too and no one really cares as lenses are never obsolete like cameras, sensors, etc. Yes I know it is 4K and will be a force for some time, but the value will also be based on what our clients want and it won't be Scarlet MX if Dragon is out as people want the most current things.

We all want ramped up production, but of course want production ready cameras too and the newest thing. Everyone is in a 4K race at this point, and while no other 4k camera exists in this price range, technology changes so rapidly, that on the production side of things, a bunch of new cameras shooting 4k could pop up next year at better price points with faster assembly lines ready to ship from Sony/Canon, etc. I don't see if RED stays at this rate how they could compete in the future once these other manufacturers producing millions of cameras are releasing their 4k. I of course am standing behind RED for sure and so are so many 10s of thousands who have cameras now, but to stay strong for business new products have to be released all the time. RED I'm sure knows they need to figure out how to bring some things to market faster or they will not be who they are.

Also, I feel they need to speak up about realistic dates, even if far out. For instance we all know about the C300 which I'm not impressed with, but Canon mentioned it would be around March. I'd bet it releases in March, and this is why there are so many dedicated Canon users love it or hate it. I'm not sure why RED would say starts shipping Dec 1st, but not at least give us complete in stock availability expectations for something like March too. At least then they would be offering a better camera at around the same release dates as Canon. It would be then cool and would exceed our expectations if it arrived earlier and these shipping things would not be an issue, but they could build their reputation on always being ahead. it is all perception so they should simply state a realistic later date and come through in advance. Obviously not something too ridiculous like a year, but a 4 to 6 month window would be great, otherwise, to be honest, we shouldn't even know about products if it takes more than 4 months to roll out.

I personally bought this camera based off of the expected ship date of on or around Dec 1st. I didn't and don't expect it tomorrow (however if RED is listening, feel free to get mine out early :)) May or June would be absolutely unacceptable to me when waiting for a camera for production or to build accessories around. If this turns into Feb or March, I'll cancel my order and rent for my purposes until one is in stock in the future.. Luckily for me, I'm Nov 3rd purchaser of an AL mount so I hope I still have a chance soon. I'm a bit down the list at 501210 but hopefully close enough to get out soon. lets hope.

I feel for you man, its killing all of us. Im sure they will respond to us soon. (I sure hope).... Im 501221 I know how you feel. I bought expecting the end of DEC, first week of JANish. Seems to be an unrealistic expectation now. The biggest Serial number I have seen 196. Sure hope people are just not posting and they are out shooting.

it's... the grinch.

imran - i agree that it would seem those would have their own line... but the rate they are going out seems to prove otherwise. maybe the mounts don't have a holdup, but they've decided that's the order the cameras will ship, PL, Ti, Al... i mean, that's what it looks like.

I third that grinch theory...sounds exactly like what's going on!

Agreed paul, they could be in that order...the thing is though, if that IS the case, those say that got the Al mount because A. it was cheaper and B. we already have say a Ti, M mount or PL mount and would replace that Al mount would've probably liked to have been informed on that...

PL was readily available so those shipped on 17th, the Ti is in a long long queue...and Al is well...what seems to have stopped after 5 cameras? Obviously theres more out there but I'm sure you all know what I mean...

So even if it was PL, Ti and Al...they still have individual orders to fill for Ti before they start the Scarlet Ti orders...which means right now for Scarlet the order would be PL, Al, Ti...if anything

This does not have to mean anything because it's a special situation, but...

I'm SO..1301 and I've received a allocation notification. Ordered a Ti canon mount. Seems to be some confusion on when shipping is due though (new edited info)

I theorize that the Ti Canon mounts and AL Canon mounts share the same pieces for the most part, and that RED is focusing on getting the Ti mount out of backorder right now.

right, i was thinking they may be using the same line for the 2, just swapping the titanium/aluminum base

which makes sense that the Al that are shipping are either assembled off the line or as tests, which means the bulk of Al mounts will hopefully start trickling out after the Ti Canon Mounts catch up in the next week.

in any case, not much to do except wait patiently and prepare to take delivery and start shootin' :)

I'm starting to think my order for a TI PL scarlet(ordered 2 days ago) will show up before my Canon AL Scarlet (ordered within the first 20 minutes on Nov 3)....

What I'm thinking is that a lot of us ordered an AL mount because the shipping date was estimated at Dec 1st. Yes it said starts shipping Dec 1st, but wouldn't we all assume that if we bought on the first night available (Nov 3rd) we would have had our cameras shipped on or near the first ship date.

If there is something wrong with the AL mount shipping now or soon (which seems to be the speculation on here lately), the I would appreciate it if RED offers us first evening buyers of the AL the opportunity to switch to PL to move our orders along faster. Just a thought and a courtesy they should at least ask. My bomb squad rep is cool, but has provided no real info to this point on if this is an option.

I agree. +1 or even the Ti upgrade if it would ship faster.

+1, but that horse has run away.

You can stick a fork in this year. Next week is a throw away week as far as shipping.

Not a single place I looked when buying my camera on Nov 3rd said shipping in extremely limited quantity on Dec 1st, and it also didn't read, "we won't update you if this changes, expect major backorders, no weekly updates, etc" It actually said, "starts shipping Dec 1st"very specifically. That's what I expected. Especially since i ordered the first night.

I asked tonight if I could switch to PL and they mentioned no, it would go to the back of the line. For some reason it seemed fair to RED to let the 300 who showed up on Nov 3rd have priority, (and I don't blame the 300) even if they ordered weeks later, but I can't change a simple item in my order to have it ship earlier? I'm on the verge of canceling if I don't here something very soon. I bought mine on Nov 3rd with a few hours of the site going live.

I really feel for those who waited much longer but congrats to the lucky ones who are getting there cameras, and MUCH more importantly information and contact from RED.

For me it would depend on how long the wait is, but I would consider changing if it's going to be too long.

But it would be better to know either way.
