  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

just made a quick and dirty calculation - nothing scientific for i'm no math-guru ;-)

Scarlet No. 196 was dropped on 9th of December. Assuming the Delivery of Scarlet startet on Nov 17 this is roughly a Month ago.
Now lets assume they drop 200 Cams a Month ... this would be 6.6 Cams a Day. I'm @ Position 292 on the List.
So that would be about 40 Days to wait ;-)

so for this really sloppy calculation take your Position on the List, subtract the 21 cams that are already delivered
an divide by 6.6 - tataaa - this is your waiting time in days.

(another good way of RED-ZENning until the cam arrives)

haha...lets hope that math is off...

I'm 1022 minus 21 I'd be 1001 then divide by 6.6....that means me 152 days. Thats nearly 5 months... :tongue:
 
I talked to somebody really close to the action. and they told me that there were able to put out 1 scarlet every 13 mins. and i def trust the person that told me this. im 2938 and he told me that i would probably only have to wait a couple months.

Well doing the math, thats 4 an hour, thats 32 a day (8 hour working day), 6 days a week gives it 192 weekly. Placing something like my order number around 5 weeks out.

That 13min per scarlet isn't surprising as thats whats done with EPIC. Though this does present a minor issue with all this info...

Firstly that the PL mount and Al share the same line but Al seems to not be going out as fast, each camera is said to be made with the mount together with the body, hence they can't deliver it separately. IT'd be a logistical nightmare I guess too.

I doubt the Al mount has an issues, although the focus and aperture are still in beta, these are all firmware things. The basic mount works, RED would test this before even making them and sending them out. The difference between the Al and the Ti is just material used, electronics the same. The Ti is going out pretty well by the sounds or rather lack of the sound of the moaning about the Ti mounts still not being delivered.

I'm looking at Mid Jan for my Scarlet...hopefully I'm wrong but its better to be not so optimistic when anything can go wrong... (parts shortage etc.)
 
what i heard though is that they had lots built prior to the release. cant give out the number but thats what i heard. not sure how they are processing and allocating and testing and such but im relatively sure there are lots more built than we think, just gotta wait for them to go out.

There was this amazing guy in NYC that used to make large traditional pizzas in front of customers in under two minutes.

However, if the cheese ran out, his speed would drop dramatically. :mellow:

EXACTLY! Probably are waiting on some piece they cant mill themselves.

The only problem with this calculation is that #26 went out yesterday. :D So we don't know if #196 was a fluke or not.
 
I am really confused by the seemingly random serial numbers of both Epic-M/X and now Scarlet-X. I can remember with the Ms, one guy would get #401 and a week later, #186 would arrive at somebody's doorstep. The general trend is higher numbers later...but there are lots of situations like that.

Perhaps its a randomized system now? That way people don't know how many have shipped or haven't shipped...
 
Just got my allocation email. Funds are in place... I have no clue how to update your guys list... if someone wants to do it here is the info

Ordered the night of the 3rd, not sure what time.

Was not at the event

My SO number is 0051338

Its the TiPL mount

I'm in Nashville TN
 
Rec'd my allocation email as well today Ti PL mount - I know another DP here in Toronto that also got his allocation as well.
I'm SO#1587 ordered at 6:30 am Eastern on the 4th, so 3:30am Pacific?

I appreciate your optimism. I really do.

However this list only shows a total of (4) Scarlet-X (Canon Al) delivered. Beyond that ... no reported notification. There is post after post of PL allocation, while none for either Canon mount.

Since 4 out of 5 Scarlet-X orders seem to be Canon mount, I hope we get some accurate information in the next backorder update. Jarred promised some word towards the end of this week, but next week is traditionally one hell of a shipping cluster fuck.

Looks like it'll be Jan time for the majority of Al orders...we could see a surprise though come Friday,Saturday

I'm very surprised though that not even the event people who ordered Canon are marked off yet, I'd have though pretty good majority of event people if not all would be filled by this week.
 
Perhaps I am a bit too optimistic, and I agree it does not look good for those of use that ordered the Al mounts. Others may have gone out that we don't know of, and I can only hope at some point we start to see more of them show up on the list.

That being said, a may end up regretting not getting a PL version. My wife says I am not the most patient man. But in the long run I chose the canon mount because of the lenses I have access to. Not to do but wait and see.
 
I'm starting to get concerned that something's wrong with the manufacturing line/process of the Canon mounts. Jarred said most orders in the first hour should be delivered by Christmas, and must have realized the demand for Canon mounts when he said this.

But weeks later and barely more than 1 Canon mount reported as being delivered per week, something has to be up. I very much hope we get an update soon. I know waiting is part of the RED experience... but with a bunch of money out, I'd love to know why we're waiting!
