  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

sorry guys, I just wanted to know if someone has received any news from RED Europe and Scarlet Shipping in Europe...
I'm quiet freightened, almost a month and no sign of any start of shipping ... just hope that everything is fine for our european orders... :/

I think one of the best indication to figure out a rough time of when your camera will come will be based on serial numbers shipped per week. We can get a rough idea once the online orders start going out. It's likely in the 8pm-10 pm range will be mainly camera orders and not accessories, as it was pain in the ass to get through.

I just hope we a see a flood of AL mount going out this week with SO #850 and up. It will mean that all the unknown orders will likely have been filled. It could be a sad christmas :(

Yeah, its either this week or we see next Monday having at least 300 cams go out all in one day...thats unlikely surely though so leaves pretty much this week...

It's pretty strange how PL Mounts are going out strong but the Canon mounts aren't...I guess they can manufacture the Scarlet super quick and have the PLs already made, so they just slap them on and off they go...

Compared to the canon mounts, though I'd have though they would've started making the mounts even well before Nov 3rd since they obviously knew that they were going to go Al mount route at some point and would need that tried, tested and proven to work

All very speculative though... Can't wait for anyone who gets their cams this week! Just love hearing everyones joy with these cameras....beats the whole unhappiness vibes in early nov with the announcement...

We got our email on Friday from our rep saying the deposit is processed and as soon as the camera is ready, the rest will be charged and the camera will be sent out.

... probably over a month from that, but hey!
 
Impressive list. Thanks guys! The anticipation is killing me but I'm learning about this "RED = Patience" thing. Ha

I happen to have the highest order number on the list by almost an order of magnitude; color me impressed, Haha.
 
Think--Canon mount is still not at it's full potential. Aperture control and focusing are basically in beta.

In the meantime...

PL-mount is rock solid and will be used on more professional shoots--for the most part, larger crews, thicker post-production pipelines, more polished finished footage for the world to see. PL-mount is coming off the line faster and QC can only handle so many Scarlets a day.

Again, Canon Al is a brand new line and firmware is not at full speed. If you were Red, which cameras would you send out first?
 
Welp I just took a dive in. I wanted the Canon AL mount. Which is my first order 0945...

I went ahead and decided to go ahead and order a TI PL mount Scarlet as well. Not because I want two, but simply because I will take delivery on the camera that comes up first. My rep mentioned PL's are more readily available. I doubt it's likely it will ship before my Scarlet X-AL order but I figured it was worth a shot... I'll add it to the list if this order comes up first... SO : 56978 Scarlet-X TI PL

I'll cancel whichever one doesn't come up first.

That is a really good idea, but I cannot believe it's come to that.

Well I'm almost sure the Canon AL will come first, so it was really only a precaution as there don't seem to be many TI PL orders waiting. And my rep did say they were more readily available. I have work I need a camera for in January, a camera I own. I can't afford to rent for weeks at a time where I might not get to shoot because of weather or lack there of. Alot of things I do happen last minute or get cancelled last minute. I know everyone has an excuse or a reason they need theirs. I don't intend to jump anyone in line. I'm simply just trying to pay my bills and ultimately the Scarlet will help with that. If it costs $1500 extra its worth it.
 
If I had it to do over, I would go with the PL mount in a second. I have every single accessory (including a Ti Canon mount) that I need to go, but no camera body.

I wish that Red had maintained the SO# order and offered the option to pay the extra $1500 (PL upgrade) and take "what we have now".

The Canon aluminum mount is already my least favorite piece of Red gear.

All my glass is Zeiss Compact prime (zeiss CP easily flips back and forth between pl and ef) ... so is easy for me to switch to pl. If they are having problems with AL ... would be nice to now ... so i could have them switch my order. I think their shipping system is catching up, and i don't want to confuse things(my old guess was AL should start shipping to web orders on the 16th though). I have rewritten my latest script again, it really needed it, without the delay's i could have started filming with the bad script (i.e. disaster)... so the delay is working out for me.

Do we even know what happened? Did I miss a thread on it? I look at it this way. If they've gone through the list of people at the event with PL's there are 35 (if I counted right) on the list) not shipped or allocated. There are still all the Canon's at the event and those before my SO number not at the event....Not really sure which will come up first, just seemed like a good idea to give myself a chance at having a camera possibly sooner.
 
20 cameras away :) hopefully I hear Thursday or Friday. Tomorrow at least I get to installing the sound absorbing foam, something to keep me preoccupied.

Seeing as we haven't heard of any Canon Al mounts going out this week. Eep! Maybe, maybe not. I've resigned myself to a Scarlet-Free Christmas at this point. People tend to get allocated a week out... and not even the 300 event goers have been allocated yet so it seems less and less likely that they'll catch up to our place in a few weeks.

On the other hand, PLs seem to be flying out.

Exact reason I decided to go ahead and put in a PL order as well. I'll likely cancel my REDVolt's order at this point in time to help make the difference easier to achieve. If it happens to work out like I think it might i'll be trying to find a way to pick up a PL lens as well...Did anyone order a Battle Tested lens?

I don't se you getting your Scarlet faster by ordering the PL mount. I think they ship your PL mount first and then you still have to wait for the Scarlet with canon mount since its on another order.

I think he meant he ordered a PL Mount scarlet...and will cancel if that ships before the Canon Mount Scarlet...

Exactly. I ordered both, I'll take shipment of whichever order is allocated first. PL mounts are more readily avaliable. It's not that likely that my PL order will come up before it, but if there is a snag with Canon mounts or just slow production and PL's are going out the door faster I'm just trying to give myself the best chance to get a camera before the end of the month, it might be a longshot but my rep even gave me the idea.
