  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

im sure they are just short on canon mounts. i cant imagine them being any harder to put on being that they are meant to be interchangeable with Ti pl mount. if it was that big of a pain in the butt, they would only sell you one mount or the other like the c300 right?

I'm starting to get concerned that something's wrong with the manufacturing line/process of the Canon mounts. Jarred said most orders in the first hour should be delivered by Christmas, and must have realized the demand for Canon mounts when he said this.

But weeks later and barely more than 1 Canon mount reported as being delivered per week, something has to be up. I very much hope we get an update soon. I know waiting is part of the RED experience... but with a bunch of money out, I'd love to know why we're waiting!

Thats a very good point.

Well going by the fact that they can't sell you the camera separate to the mount right now or more so transport it...

I assume that they make these mounts in conjunction with the body, in the sense that they pick them up from a basket and place it with that camera that moves along...but I can't imagine the issue being the mount...it'd be almost like another Ti mount situation then...all of which is blown out of proportion...

If we have to be realistic about this...even IF it was the mount problem. That doesn't explain all the event cams unshipped. Surely that within these last 2 weeks they would've made AT LEAST 8 mounts...surely...so there is probably something else at work here...like they are either over QC'ing the cameras or something...backorder update hopefully will clarify

As far as I can see though, a mount issue would mean that they would've informed at the start of this week...plus if they've been shipping Ti Mounts it seems kind of weird that switch to Al is such a major leap of difficulty for them to construct it.

It can't be a missing part since PL mounts are going out so Scarlets are being made.

Hence its neither the mount nor the lack of camera parts...leading us to perhaps the fact that these cameras are going out...just that Al Canon mount users are WAY too excited to even post here...so excited they took a trip to somewhere without internet to test the Scarlets?

We should not get carried away on speculation right now. Hopefully Jarred will update us on this issue this week with his backordered update. At 981, I'm still holding out hope I'll see mine before Christmas.
I sure hope you are right, Michael since I am right behind you at 984 :D

Right there as well...0945

I understand the silence to be working, but it would seem something was up since they needed to wait til weeks end for an update.

I just got the email notification for my Ti Canon mount, which I ordered in August. too bad I didn't go for the PL mount, because I would be shooting next week with it.

Ugg. But I'm optimistic about January. SO 911. AL mount. It will get here soon enough. I just keep working on the effects for the Magehaven pilot I shot on RED ONE. As long as Epic and Scarlet get here for the rest of the series I'm good.

I'll try and get 943 delivered as quickly as I can so you guys can get yours as soon as possible :wink5:

I'm 0926.

Sleep and I, are now long lost friends.

There's no way these will all be delivered by the end of February. Absolutely no way. I'm 3686 and I'm betting May or June. I'm not yet a customer and I'm already angry with them. Most of us likely have a long, long wait and guess what....they're never going to tell us. Suck it up fellas.

Arnold F., I hope that isn't the case.

I understand the Scarlet is semi future proof which is why I bought it for production and also to have my 2nd company cineZEN USA build accessories around it too, but if we are expected to wait until Feb, March, April, someone better please notify us asap as that would be very upsetting for us to sit and wait anywhere near even another month without a heads up. Remember, we are not asking for definitive dates as we all know RED will not provide these, however at this point, almost a month into shipping some, they seem to be barely getting out in real numbers yet.

When looking at lens companies like Cooke, Zeiss, etc, they are on major backorder too and no one really cares as lenses are never obsolete like cameras, sensors, etc. Yes I know it is 4K and will be a force for some time, but the value will also be based on what our clients want and it won't be Scarlet MX if Dragon is out as people want the most current things.

We all want ramped up production, but of course want production ready cameras too and the newest thing. Everyone is in a 4K race at this point, and while no other 4k camera exists in this price range, technology changes so rapidly, that on the production side of things, a bunch of new cameras shooting 4k could pop up next year at better price points with faster assembly lines ready to ship from Sony/Canon, etc. I don't see if RED stays at this rate how they could compete in the future once these other manufacturers producing millions of cameras are releasing their 4k. I of course am standing behind RED for sure and so are so many 10s of thousands who have cameras now, but to stay strong for business new products have to be released all the time. RED I'm sure knows they need to figure out how to bring some things to market faster or they will not be who they are.

Also, I feel they need to speak up about realistic dates, even if far out. For instance we all know about the C300 which I'm not impressed with, but Canon mentioned it would be around March. I'd bet it releases in March, and this is why there are so many dedicated Canon users love it or hate it. I'm not sure why RED would say starts shipping Dec 1st, but not at least give us complete in stock availability expectations for something like March too. At least then they would be offering a better camera at around the same release dates as Canon. It would be then cool and would exceed our expectations if it arrived earlier and these shipping things would not be an issue, but they could build their reputation on always being ahead. it is all perception so they should simply state a realistic later date and come through in advance. Obviously not something too ridiculous like a year, but a 4 to 6 month window would be great, otherwise, to be honest, we shouldn't even know about products if it takes more than 4 months to roll out.

I personally bought this camera based off of the expected ship date of on or around Dec 1st. I didn't and don't expect it tomorrow (however if RED is listening, feel free to get mine out early :)) May or June would be absolutely unacceptable to me when waiting for a camera for production or to build accessories around. If this turns into Feb or March, I'll cancel my order and rent for my purposes until one is in stock in the future.. Luckily for me, I'm Nov 3rd purchaser of an AL mount so I hope I still have a chance soon. I'm a bit down the list at 501210 but hopefully close enough to get out soon. lets hope.

I too bought with the expectation of shipping dec 1st. that's why I ordered as early as I did. I also remember RED saying they would not give priority to those who attended, so I decided against going. Had I know they would get priority, I would have gone. Delivery dates and specs subject to change. It's what we all know happens.

The bright side is that everyone WANTS to have Scarlets shipping, both us and RED. I'm sure they are doing their best. Updates on schedule changes and realistic dates would be nice however.

Nope, I'm an event attender and I haven't gotten mine yet. Ordered it around 850 on the 3rd

Well that is concerning...

I still don't think the mount is the problem, Ti mounts are going out and are meant to be up to scratch this week with every ordered from Day 1 at least and then some after...

If that holds true...then the Al mount, consider the fact that its just a different alloy, same design...shouldn't be a problem, there has been 2 that have gone out so really, the mount isn't the problem. I'm just dying to know why the event holders aren't allocated even, forget shipped, I want allocations to begin with...

I personally don't mind if they ship in Jan...as long as I'm not getting mine at the tail end of Jan...

Right now, I do feel like I should order a PL mount and see which ships faster...be pretty damn funny to me if I ordered a PL mount today and that ships faster then the Al mount I ordered on nov 3rd... a Scarlet is a Scarlet...no matter the mount...and I have a Ti Mount waiting for a body.

Yep, me too. after doing some math, and seeing the latest allocation being order numer 1117, I am at MOST 75 orders away, but I have no idea how many eventtees bought a scarlet in that time, so I could be 2 orders away, or 75. But they could also be PL and TI Canon.

Idk, I've just been bumped around to a new Bomb Rep, hopefully that means something good for me.

Think about it... the Ti PL mounts have been in healthy production for quite awhile, so those are easily available and ready on demand.

The Ti Canon mounts have highest priority to go to the customers that ordered them months ago before they start shipping on Scarlets.

The Al mount is last. Pretty simple.

Chill out and wait for the coming update.
