  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The library...

holding on and waiting for warp speed...

ehehehehe..... as Jarred would say

Ok everybody, time to "duck and cover"!

I have been watching every star trek they have ever made this year and almost done with enterprise now.. and to hear Jim talk about going warp is amazing! One trillion miles per sec!

Engage!

Who plays Mr. Sulu, Ohara and Spock in reds versionof Star Trek?

Jarred? Kelly? Deanan? I guess Graeme is Scotty in the engine room.
Maybe Ted would be "Bones" :)

Warp factor five, Captain!

Lol

Well, its clear that however you cast it, I'll be the logical choice to shoot it.

I mean who else here has directed photography on the Enterprise? ;)

In 2006 we had no idea whatsoever what we were doing. But we were game enough to test ourselves against the best in the industry. Our 4K against the industry's 1080P.

In 2009 we developed a library of knowledge and information. We set in motion the most advanced sensor and ASIC program in the industry of camera companies.

In 2011 we developed a core library so advanced that we delivered the EPIC-X.... the most powerful motion and stills camera to date. 5K at 120fps, recording REDCODE RAW to SSD. A nuclear warhead in a matchbox.

In 2012 we step up to warp speed.

Just watch. And enjoy the ride...

Jim

I hope warp speed fits in an EPIC ;-)

I may as well point out that today (9/8) is the 45th anniversary of Star Trek.

And... I'm on shaky ground here, but wasn't RED Studios once Desilu, long ago? Wasn't the original Trek shot at Desilu?

Mike

The original Star Trek was shot at Paramount, which was also home to Desilu for a number of years prior to their buying the Cahenga lot. Desilu was a pretty active production entity and had shows on other lots throughout their existence, as do many production companies and even large studios. As a current example, the show "House" is a Universal show, but it's shot on the Fox lot in West L.A., and CBS/Radford in Studio City has been used for countless sitcoms over the last 20 years regardless of studio affiliation.

Is the ASIC the thing that will give RED cameras their edge for the foreseeable future?

Ahhh I had some recollection of Paramount being in the picture, which is why I said I was on shaky ground. Thanks for the clarification :-)

No, same as any company, it's the people.

If you DID want to finger a particular piece of tech or IP, I'd go for Graeme's magic.
