  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit...

Where'd you see this trailer? is it out now?

I'll watch it but those special effects look cheesy. The Elves running through the trees while the dwarfs wash down river....

What about Orlando Bloom? Is that a digital version because he wasn't willing to rejoin the cast?

Yes...why do all the 3D environments have that kind of "plasticity" like you see in video games.

I have to agree that the CGI is just not up to the level one would expect here. I watched the video blogs a bit. Jackson has built a complete end-to-end production capability in New Zealand, evidently conceived as an asset catering to future productions. That approach has drawbacks. Maybe, in the effort to roll their own capability, they did not seek out best of breed solution providers based elsewhere, and now the shortcomings of their local team are showing up in these renderings.

Being a FANBOY of CGI, I dont agree with the negative comments on this movie.

The look is amazing. It has its own style and glad that it doesnt borrow from others.

I don't think that's it (I mean we're talking about the same people who did Avatar).

Rather I think it's because of 48 fps 3d...Peter Jackson mentioned at some point that they were only allowed to make that choice because he assured the studio it wouldn't cost more money. So they're probably heavily stressed with the work load, and probably not refining a lot of shots as much as they otherwise would.
