  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Gentleman's Underwater Bubble Blower Thread

Yes my Bomb rep also just confirmed that Redmote will NOT work with Weapon. Hence we will have to find another solution for control of Deep Atom and Deep Weapon underwater housings.

Not to contradict the information you all are getting from your reps, but with the new hard wired option for the REDMote from ET and Gates I'm not so sure that there is a definite "NO" answer to your question. I would wait to hear from Mr. Ellerbrock before making any drastic decisions regarding your housings.

Matt I hadn't heard of a hard wired Redmote....that sounds like an easy solution to our problem if it works!

Here you go Ross
LINKBOX is now ready. LINKBOX is a wired connection for the RED DIGITAL CINEMA REDMOTE®. It was designed in collaboration with Element Technica and is approved by RED. LINKBOX provides key advantages to underwater professionals:

· Eliminates intermittent wireless connection issues between the REDMOTE® and Epic or Scarlet Cameras while in Gates DEEP DRAGON and DEEP EPIC housings.
· Provides power & charging to the REDMOTE® just as if it were docked to the Epic or Scarlet Camera.

We have a limited quantity, and are triaging LINKBOX to customers experiencing greater connection problems. Price for initial deployment is $625 until they are gone. Next production run units will be higher.

Please contact Gates to learn more about LINKBOX.

In a follow up, just wanted to say, having worked with Matt on the Sudan shoot, our visit to Conshelf II, and all of the very unusual travel requirements that entailed, what a pleasure it was to work under Matt's direction. We got pretty much everything we needed, should make a very respectable 'fill' for everything Matt and Fabien are trying to accomplish with the Mission 31 movie.

Saving the oceans is no small task, if anyone is up to it, then Matt and Fabien are the ones.

Off to the Bora Bora lagoon and parts beyond shortly with H2OLPF, and latest Dragon firmware, will post results as I get them.

Best to all on this thread, keep it coming,

T

Thanks for the kinds words Tom. It was great to work with you too, couldn't have asked for anything more. There are many people working towards the conservation of our oceans, we are just trying to be a part of the solution.

Best to you on your next adventure.

In the picture, which one is Matt?:001_cool:

I have filed for a patent (based on a working prototype) on a device that will allow touchscreens to operate underwater. My concept and prototype worked well. Ive reached out to a few engineers to help me further develop/improve the design, but have had no luck with any of them thus far. I will continue to work on it as this totally solves the underwater touchscreen dilemma.

It sure would be amazing to use an app like Foolcontrol inside our housings.

Already there Mark, on a Tahiti shoot shortly with Foolcontrol and Rouge, clients very impressed, will post details on my return.

Gates STO Training at AbelCine

AbelCine (a new RED Reseller) is hosting Gates STO Training next week 4/30&5/1 in Burbank. It's an intensive 2 day hands-on course (class and pool) to learn proficiency in the Setup-Test-Operation of Gates equipment, and other topics like underwater optics.

A few spots remain open, so contact Gates or AbelCine to join.

Tom Are you saying Foolcontrol have something that can be used underwater and that this might be suitable for use with Reds Weapon?

Got home and the new order was waiting for me :-)
Just need to get my underwater housing fixed and I can take H2O on a test dive in Cayman...
Let's hope the blues will be blues from now on :-))

It's already shipping?

Yeah, delivered yesterday. Missed my dive, but I'm sending it to Mexico with a keen youngster today looking for blues and makos.

This trip is completely at the surface, so I'm not sure if it is even appropriate. He also has the STH OLPF.
