Wow... I'd really like to find out more about this!

My understanding [which may be wrong] is that you edit the proxies in FCP, poop out an EDL, bring the EDL into Color, color grabs the R3Ds instead of .MOVs and you're set. I believe output is limited to 2K.

This is just my understanding and may not represent the truth.

This is HUGE! When is this going to occur?

Brook, Nice Thread. You have summed it up for all of us who could not make it to NAB. Thanks.
If someone from RED can comment on Native R3D support in Color, It would save lots of us speculating what it means.

anybody knows the price for the mattebox?

I've always wondered what it is like when women have multiple orgasms. Now i think i understand.

One other thing is Red support in the Log and Transfer window in Final Cut.

So you can basically bring in the R3D files into Final Cut and batch transcode them into, for example, Apple Prores HQ. At that point you're working with entirely new Prores files allowing you to edit with and finish in 2K without ever having to go back to the original R3D. Pretty awesome.

This is supposed to be available right away, maybe even this week.

Native R3D support in Color will be available in the future, but they didn't say when exactly.

They're not giving out the price of the matte box.

The new lenses were described to me as being part of their new pro-line of lenses, (though I don't know if they're actually calling it the pro-series). They'll still carry the regular Red line they have out now in addition to the more expensive new "pro" line.

I spent a good deal of time at the booth today, so that's what I gleaned. (Thanks for posting the thread by the way, Brook, there are so many new things it's hard to keep track of them).

Oh, I also saw a kick ass Scratch demonstration. Quite a powerful tool. They'll be selling the turn-key Scratch Red Suite, (with the Red Box), for $30K.

update: Log and Transfer plug-in looks to be available now on the downlaod page.

Did Graeme say anything at the beginning of the party about build 16? I heard that he did, but I got there late.

Another myth, just like the Loch Ness monster and free lunches... :nuke:

Of course, it's a hell of a myth I'd like to bust. But moving swiftly on...

Any more info on the Matte box? Now the RedRockMicro MB is out, I'm stuck between a rock and hard place...

On one hand a RED MB is great - it 'matches' and looks like an engine part. On the other hand, a RRM MB looks surprisingly like an Arri, and now the specs have been published (excluding weight o'course).

We really need more pics - flags, mounts, filter frames etc, etc.
