Am I the only one out here that is pissed that a major component of the $3700 Pro I/O, the Aux Power, does not work, and has never worked.

RED, after 7 months of emailing and pleading is still ignoring this.

Why sell something that doesn't work.

I consider myself one of the most dedicated RED owner operators in NYC, I have come to bat for RED so many times and they have really let me down on this one.

Where I come from, if an entity sells someone something that does X and you know it doesn't do X, then you are ripping someone off.

RED you have stolen my hard earned cash and I want my money back.

I bought this to simply run a monitor or bar tech or preston and it doesn't.

Jim, Jarred Please get involved.

what's going on??? How do we get this thing working or how do I get my cash back?

and ironically the Meizler module has everything and its sooooo amazing blah blah blah? they don't want to compete with their precious Meizler which in my opinion is the riskiest purchase in the biz.
if that thing goes down you lose soooooo much.

We all know how short a life span technology has, this is 7 months old now.

Paul, is that the port does not work at all? Or that it does not provide the output that you were expecting? For example, a published spec is not being met? Sorry for the questions, but trying to get a frame of reference here. We are happy to discuss further, please PM your reply to Nick Grow (our product support manager) and myself.

Hmm, ok. Overcurrent stop is different than no power. I will touch base with Nick tomorrow...

I know these ports can only provide a little bit of power.. 1.5A sustained. And with a 12V system, that isn't a whole lot. There are some monitors that I am able to power here through our Pro IO, and some small transmitters or downcoverters.... But a Preston and other devices (especially motor driven) require more power. If a motor binds, or your lens has heavy grease on it, then the motor is easily going to pull more than 1.5A.

If you don't know how much Amps something needs.... Take the amount of Watts and divide it by the Voltage needed for the device. So like the Sony PVM-740 7.4" OLED onboard monitor needs 12Volts and max of 27Watts which would mean that it needs to be provided over 2Amps... Not something that this port can handle.

"A little bit of power" is not PRO and a little bit of power is unacceptable for professional device for a professional camera. These are basic accessories that work on all other professional cameras systems. They all work great with a D Tap off the same battery, which RED hates. All these accesssories worked great on the REDone, they all work on an alexa.

So Red where do we stand with the Pro IO ? This issue is not the only post on this issue

if its not powering the usual array of on set gear then is there a hardware or firmware fix in the works? owners & potential customers (myself included) would of course love to know as soon as possible. And if we're going to have the same power limitations with the +1 module?

thx

Hey All Pro I/O owners,

I have sent my Pro I/O in to RED. Nick and Brent have been very pro active in helping to remedy the situation. They received the unit today and I am standing by for their findings/fix.
