  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thank You.

Hello Jarred / Brent / Everyone in the Red Team,

Thank you so much for pushing the boundaries and being total rebels in the Camera making industry..

I value the philosophy and the spirit of Red and thats why I've decided to take a plunge and go straight on with you guys instead of the other camera manufacturers that I was looking around before.

I may be totally new here but I totally feel somehow that I am part of a family. It's something that I dont get with other companies and I will treasure this feeling.

Thank you and I'm glad you guys pulled through this difficult time.

Warmest Regards
Melvin Ong

I think it's absolutely great that you have rewarded people with discounts on the epic-w route, you don't see many company's doing gestures like that. Also the red competitions you do for film makers to go out and make amazing films with a chance at winning equipment. I think red makes fantastic cameras with the best images on the market in my opinion. That's why I'm still here frustratingly but calm almost 12 months later waiting for my scarlet-w to be allocated. I don't think iv ever waited for anything as long as my first red camera.

Did I read correctly that you are going to be sending out some scarlet-w's, by any chance would that be scarlet-w pure orders? Or just switchers still at the moment.

You should be proud Jarred, hats off to your team.

So I thought I could save my pennies and maybe afford this:
scarlet-fixed.jpg
I was ready to buy two on the spot. I had a bigger budget back then. ;-) I'd like to think I'd still be using them now. It's pretty much all the camera you need.

I was right there with you. That was the moment where I thought I could actually get a red. When the Scarlet grew up I was ready to go and scraped every penny so I could make sure it was really going to happen. Honestly without Red I would probably never have pushed myself as hard as I have. Not to mention this forum which is really a self guided film school and gave me more real life knowledge than any other avenue I have taken!

Thank you Red for being ACE

Thank you to Jarred, Brent and everybody at RED!

The deals you offer are crazy and appreciated. You took back my Scarlet Dragon last year at full price in my trade-in to Epic Dragon... crazy. That even crazier, short term Epic-W deal had me thinking twice, but I held back because I'm trying to save up, lol.

REDUser is my film school and the community you guys built here is extremely valuable. When people ask me how I learned what I know, I say I'm on REDUser all day, learning and often interacting with the president of the company.

Sometimes I hesitate to ask Jarred or Brent something because I figure you guys are way to busy to be on the forum dealing with questions that aren't really that critical. But I see you answering them from me and others and it's very much appreciated.

There are also times when I'm just keeping it real and talking w/ other redusers about something that I think could be better and I see a Jarred or Brent or Graeme chime in and I'm like "oh shit, was that rude? was I just dissing their product in their own house?" and it feels awkward, LOL. The fact that you guys are interacting with us makes me feel like I know you guys and everybody else on the forum, so it's cool.

BTW, almost 2 years ago, I had a PM convo w/ Trent about the REDLink Android app when I was considering getting a REDLink and not only was he responding promptly, but he went out of his way to reply to the old PM thread when the app had been updated, just to let me know there was a new version out... cool dude!

With the arrival of Helium 8K, what Jarred, Brent and everyone at Red have brought to the medium goes well beyond the remarkable technical achievements. Given the staggering artistic return Red users will be getting on their investment, I believe this qualifies as altruism and borders on patronage.

Only Jarred would say sorry and thank you two days after giving his customers an enormous gift :) Mad respect dude. Red por vida!

Had much the same experience with Trent helping me get my Redmote to upgrade. We had several email back and forths on a SUNDAY NIGHT as I recall. I was almost embarrassed by the level of help he was giving me... thinking he must have mistaken me for some A list director or such. '-)

Thanks Again to you and team RED

thank y'all for everything you do to make and keep red cameras able to make the best possible images :)

Thanks to Jim, Jarred, Brent and Tommy (my Red Bomb Squad Rep.) and everyone else at RED.

Apart thanks to the community I also want to thank RED that they haven't changed their ways.

Even the $30k for 8K is the original approach to put these tools in as many hands as possible. (Not talking about the Scarlet-W and other upgrade paths)

Not like Arri Alexa 65 rental only...

Many people critise RED for things they do,
but most people appreciate the way RED pushes the market and the creative options forward. (even the ones that don't realise)

We would probably now see the slow Roll out of 4k, if RED wouldn't have forced the market to adopt earlier.

Now with 8K we'll see the same thing again, but this time RED has got better colour science, more DR and a reliable tool that is backed by this great community.

Red is a great company doing amazing things so people can share amazing stories. Thank you all, Red. Although I am only a customer, I feel like I am part of a team. That is rare today.

Epic post Jarred.

Yes Red might be a roller coaster at times but Staying with a company that has the same values as the people that are using their tools helps create a mutual respect that I and I'm sure others will forever be grateful for.

long live the roller coaster!

It's been a great ride for sure. Thanks to the RED team, we can make beautiful movies.

Well, I jumped into the RED wagon last january especially for the reasons you mentioned. I was scared to move but I have to say that I don't have any regret ... Looking at the community and all the great people who gave advices ... Having news from the CEO himself ... all this convinced me !!!
You guys rock.
I plan to upgrade my lovely Scarlet dragon and play with that awesome beast that you have created. At least if I can upgrade faster than expected (due to work) ;)
So thanks to you for being what you are and for doing what you love. You are much more than inspiring !! MERCI !!!

Thank you Jarred and everyone at RED Headquarters!

My faith in RED, and your desire to stay relevant, has been completely restored. Bravo on the recent announcements! Re-inventing an industry has not been easy, and we appreciate it so much!
