  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tethered Recording Sneak Peak @ IBC ( and Photokina )

That means R3D's written off camera? Or just raw rastered data?
R3D's Written off camera. Either to your laptop drive or an external drive hooked up through your Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 port on your laptop. No cap on Resolution, as the resolution/frame rates go up the REDCODE needs to as well to compensate. This is an obvious workflow for the stills guys. You can grab 3:2 6K stills with super low compression stills or bursts of stills. For Motion, you can expect to shoot 6K @ 24fps around Redcode 10:1 till the Gig-E pipe gets saturated.

Wait Mikael you mean this will work with your App as well? I can get video feed through the Gig-E and control the system?

doesn't work in foolcontrol no... this was Jarred's secret project.
you could certainly still control the camera while it is tethered... but maybe it would be best to not use the same GIG-E bandwidth if REDCODE already saturates it but rather a serial (OFFHOLLYWOOD) or REDLink connection in that case...

This may be more useful than even the changeable OLPFs. You guys just keep raising the bar on yourselves. Remember that when people start bitching about something or another. You brought it on yourselves with your ascending expectations graph. '-)

very nice ! congrats to all involved.
some people will LOVE this new feature !

few days ago, was talking to a cool guy at SPACE-X... they needed exactly this to use with foolcontrol mac app on remote cameras in some hostile environments !

Some guy, eh? Haha. I know EXACTLY who you were talking to. Small world.

Wooooooow

Congratulations on the all the awesomeness you guys are unleashing onto the world!

From the video, it appears that users will be able to record motion to SSD, while simultaneously flagging frames for transmittal down the Gig-E pipe. Is that correct?

I remember asking for a trimmed down basic firmware for the camera that just allowed some of the more basic things for people who just want to shoot guerilla style. Boy was that a dumb suggestion!

can you post a chart with available redcodes? i'd really like to know 5k & 4k @ 24fps
awesome stuff!

Amazing sweetness! Wantwantwantwant! And I Will have to demo this for a few guys...
