Ok so current tally is:
52 intended orders
19 orders confirmed by PM to me

if you have ordered and not PM'd me please do ASAP. If you have not ordered please do ASAP as the discount closes tonight at midnight.

remember to email info@teradek.com if you are having any issues ordering on their online store.

thanks all,
Jason

Jason -- the plan is Monday at midnight no?

Anyone know if RED still plan on producing their announced H264 module for DSMC?
I'm wondering if they decided to focus elsewhere since the Cube had come along and will work so well with the RED and also works for other cameras?

I'm sure RED will eventually make all their own modules but I would imagine they will be coming down the road a bit as RED focus' on getting the 'M' and 'X' and 'S' out the door.
Not pushing you into a cube specifically but it's here now and it works :)

Jason

Sorry yes, I got the days mixed up! too busy!
Yes tonite Monday at midnite.

Jason

Generally, Monday at Midnight was last night. Being 12/20/2010 - 00:00:00.000 as marking the first moment of time on Monday. With and 23:59:59.999 as the last moment of time on 12/19/2010. Hence New Year's Eve marking the start of the new year at the stroke of midnight between 12/31 and 01/01.

Technically speaking though, Midnight refers to the instance of time during the transition BETWEEN the two days. As such, it's actually inappropriate to specify a time as "midnight", since it is entirely ambiguous as to which day is actually in question.

I know you're all fascinated with this mindless drivel... If its tonight, cool. Give more people opportunity to get in on the fun. But I wasn't about to risk nearly a grand in discounts on a technicality. :emote_whack:

Yes, RED has it in the works. And I'm sure they have a bunch of other stuff too. However, if you need a solution like the cube, this is too good a deal to pass up. And it's available now-ish and works with RED One and any other camera with HD-SDI output. Teradek also has the HDMI versions, which are cheaper, but if I understand correctly, they don't support proxy generation from the HDMI models.

Yes but I don't have confirmation from half of the boxes PM'd yet and I really need everyone who has actually ordered to tell me whether they want me to report it to the post or not. I don't need to list it specifically I just need to know so Teradek can confirm it against their list.

Jason

ok, so my tally so far, based on what people have said in the thread (listed in the first post by name and # of units) is 41.

If everyone who has placed an order using the discount code for this sale diamondgrpbuy at http://store.teradek.com/ could PM me with their name and # of units ordered I can cross check it against what I have listed in the first post and what Teradek has received internally.
This is important as that will be the final tally used to decide the total and thus the discount.
There's 3 days left to finalize everything if you haven't already. If there are any issues ordering please email info@teradek.com and they will get you sorted out.

thanks everyone,

Jason

Guys, please do as Jason asks ASAP. We only see about half of that number so far.

We will not be extending the deadline further, if your order is not in by midnight tonight, you will not be considered for the group buy. (With the few exceptions of international guys that already contacted us with CC clearing probs.) If you haven't done so already, please order you HD-SDI units from http://store.teradek.com/ and use the coupon diamondgrpbuy right now. We will not be able to follow up individually.

Thanks to those that have already ordered !

Cheers
Nicol

Okay then I'm in for 2 Units ;)

However since that has never been my Job, do I need the Encoder/Decoder Bundle??

This are to use with EPIC only, we will have no R1's left in our inventory starting next month.

Sorry just trying to get it how one unit is vs. the other ;)
Ketch I think that you really need explanation what it is and what it does (or, more importantly what it doesn't do)before making purchasing decision.
I'm not in position to do that so maybe someone from the source can do that...
I think it would really help not only Ketch but also others...
maybe you'd even get more sales from it.
I wouldn't get too technical just simply what the end user will see.:emote_hippie:
BTW Nicol what is the minimum system requirement for stable 1 camera streaming?

It really depend on what you want to do. Two encoders will support two cameras at the same time. The bundle will only do one camera, but you don't need the laptop, instead you have HD-SDI out. I think 2 encoders will give you more than one bundle. YMMV.

Jacek, Ketch;

Quite simply, the device converts HD-SDI to H.264 and streams it over Ethernet/WiFi at a configurable data rate. So, Jacek, the minimum requirement to stream a single camera is an encoder, a power cable, and HD-SDI cable.

However, "how to view that stream?" is an much broader question... If you get a decoder, its simply a wireless video sender/receiver. You plug one into a camera, the other into a monitor, pair them, and go on your merry way, untethered.

But, if you want to stream to an iphone, or an ipad, or a laptop, or a tablet, or a DIT station, or who knows what, the question get much more complex. It just depends on your specific scenario and intent.

I bought the WiFi bundle because it will work for traditional situations where I want to keep things simple, and without cords. But if I have a production that wants to try and "be cool" with iphones and ipad, and is willing to take the risk to "try it out", I can accomodate that too.

You might also want to check out the Cube forums, I think I saw a user manual there, as well some some specific technical questions. http://forum.teamvideocube.com/
