Thanks all that participated ! We're still counting the exact totals - but it definitely crossed the 50 mark. Congrats to all that got in, sorry to all that didn't. If your order was not placed by midnight (or you didn't e-mail us for wire transfer, etc) you missed this opportunity. We can not add any further orders. However we'll be running other specials through our resellers soon, please follow us on twitter to keep up.

Cheers, and thanks again for the support !

Had to cancel my order because I wanted the HDMI unit. I read the HDMI only 2 days ago...

Ya for AirSyncHD :-/

Just FYI The AirsyncHD is only good if you want latency free wireless HDMI transmission to an hdmi device.

Totally different functionality than the devices sold by Teradek.

Unless you pair it with something like a RedByte 2 which will give you hd-sdi in capability, and a Blackmagic or AJA on the output side, which will give you hd-sdi out.

If you want to stream to a file or a wifi based device at this time, a Teradek is a good choice.

Everyone that participated, congrats ! You all made the second tier and will receive a total of 20% discount off your order. We will be sending you individual invoices to show the exact transactions, please hold the questions until you get those. However, we’ll have some challenges fulfilling such a large order and may need your help once more. The size of the order exceeded our current run rate, and with the holidays upon us, we might not be able to get all the pieces in house fast enough; we’re reduced to a skeleton crew over the holidays so it will take a few days.

So we decided to use all means available to us - including using our limited edition Black on Black aluminum chassis. This was designed for people that really need something subtle on set - the laser etching is done first, then the anodizing, instead of the normal way of anodizing then etching. The result is quite striking (see larger pic). We only ever made 20 of these, so PM me if you would like this finish on your enc/dec units. We need to use some of these, as we do not have enough normal flashy branded units in stock to ship all these units with them.

Also please note we will be assembling and shipping in the order in which it was entered, and your credit card will only be billed once we ship your unit.

Congrats to all !

All

Thanks and congrats to those that got in. We've updated and sent invoices to everyone participating. Let us know if you haven't received one, or if there's issues.

To those that didn't make it this time, sorry, but we really can not accept any late entries. Follow us on twitter (@teradek) or join our mailing list to be notified of our next promo.

We still have a few unclaimed limited edition Black on Black Cubes (see my previous post). Pls PM or e-mail me if you prefer that.

Happy holidays !
Nicol

Hi Nicol,

Pm'd you re: the black on black version.

Regards,
P

Also, Jason, thanks for hooking us all up with this.

Any chance of a new group buy? Temporary extension?
I'm sooo bummed I missed this by a couple days.

Request from purchase group...

Just wanted to ask if anyone in the group is using the cubes to run back to a decoder and "feeding" the audio/video into a tricaster for real time internet streaming, we are very interested in understanding any success or failures with this set-up (latency, quality, etc).

Spoke with the company tech reps and no one has yet to run any feasibility tests yet. We couldn't get our hands on one here in Houston fast enough to confirm and participate in the group buy.

Any insight or experience is welcome.

Thanks in advance. PM me with info as needed.

So I got my Teradek this week and I am playing with it now.

Some initial impressions:

- Nice, little, sturdy device

- Nice box with printed manual, short BNC cable, mounting screws, power adapter

- the Cube takes a loooong time to boot up. Longer than the Red One, about 1m 40s before the image comes up again in VLC after a power cut

- Gets quite hot, just a bit less than the Red One

- Range with just the Cube (no wireless router) seems okay, still had connection when I moved the laptop in another room, but when I moved one more room up it stopped. Have to try with a router, that should be better.

- Delay with encoder and VLC on a laptop is noticeable but not a deal breaker I think. Don't know yet if it is acceptable for a director.

- It seems some settings are forgotten after a reboot, like proxy recording, so unless you keep it powered up somehow you are going to have to log in to the device over the network and change the settings after every battery change.... ugh

- Miss a reduser.net for Teradek. There is a forum for the Cube but not much going on there.

- Handy tip from the forum: set the VLC playlist to loop with just the video stream in it and it will not close the video conncetion when the power goes down on the Cube

- I had not luck yet with the proxy recording. This is not exactly plug-and-play! The only instructions are from a video that quickly jumps over all the settings and when things don't work you're on your own. I have to try the new firmware but the download doesn't work...

All in all I would say: nice concept but a bit of a work in progress still. You really don't want to quickly explain to someone how proxy recording works and then leave them to it - unless they happen to be network administrators. Teradek seems to be very active in improving the software side so let's hope it all gets a bit easier for average users. If so then it could be a great tool on the set.

Sounds like I made a wise decision in waiting for this product to mature. Will revisit the thought of investing in it around NAB.

A good number of people must have received their Cube's by now and all I can see here is Sander's comments.

Is there any thread that has discussion of the various Cube user's experiences? I'll try another search and see what comes up.

We're waiting on our package due to FedEx EFF-up in the last weeks. :furious3: Arrgggh.

I have a few questions that maybe have been answered already. I tried contacting teradek a few times with no luck. Can you listen to the video signal on more than one device ? What would be the limit and does that increase the latency ?
