As most of you know I have been collaborating with the Teradek engineers for over a year now on OMOD development. In tandem with the development of the "OMOD Engine" - which is the color / video processing board in some models of OMOD - TERADEK created the TERADEK COLR. COLR and the OMOD Engine share the same API for integration and for color / image processing.

TERADEK COLR takes the "3D LUT box" to another level with wireless control and integration to industry standard software platforms for live color grading of CDLs and 3D LUTs - 33-point 3D LUTs, and ACES compliance.

Pomfort Live Grade integration is complete.
CODEX Live integration is in process.
COLORFRONT integration is in process.
QTAKE integration is in process.

COLR has a single HDMI and a single SDI in and out - and can do cross convert AND framerate conversion. So, on DSMC cameras - you can turn your HDMI into another SDI and use it for CDL's & 3D LUTs.

COLR also has GIGe ethernet. Which means that if you connect it to your DSMC camera with a LEMO to RJ45 cable - you now have a powerful dual band wifi radio and you can use FOOLCONTROL.(COLR also has ARRI camera control as well)

You can order now - http://teradek.com/collections/colr $999

We have had these in the field on actual productions for weeks now and hopefully some of the folks using them can chime in to answer questions, etc.

Stacey Spears is collaborating on a calibration API and test pattern generator for COLR & OMOD that is going to be fantastic and he can chime in with answers to questions as well.

This is a bad ass piece of kit. And you can also use them for monitors - allowing you to load perfectly calibrated LUTs to individual monitors and manipulate them wirelessly. For example - boost the contrast so your AC has a little help pulling focus on a tough shot - then return monitor to correct look, etc. - with the click of a mouse.

You can also use COLR on other camera systems when using a non-RED camera (Phantom, GoPro, etc. etc.) along side a WEAPON, RAVEN or SCARLET-W with an OMOD to manage color across multiple camera systems.

And these LUTS are 33X33X33, supporting 10 bit! These are going to be ubiquitous, especially as they are very affordable.

Stay Tuned...

Thank you very much

I have been running a Colr on one of my cameras on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for Netflix and it is an amazing little box, especially for REDs.

In the Colr I have a tiny device that greatly expands the capabilities of the camera while also being able to truly fill the shoes of a muti function devices.

Currently I have them functioning as a powerful wifi radio. I am able to maintain a reliable connection with the camera not only at distance but through think walls. I have never had such reliability of control. It has reached the point that the ac's are no longer running touch screens on the cameras because I handle all of the functions, regardless of proximity.

Then I am stealing the hdmi feed and having the Colr convert it to hdsdi while embedding our transform LUT which I can wirelessly access and update. This gives the Acs, dolly grips and ops a LUTed image which I can precisely control while leaving me with a redlogfilm feed down the main hdsdi line.

In the event of a process trailer or other compromising scenario I can still function with just my laptop, wifi router, scopes and a monitor.

It's amazing what a powerful addtion this little box can be and how many roles it can fill.

When I first heard about it I thought "wireless out box." Neat.

After a few weeks with it, the Colr has become a go to piece of kit.

Have not tried a COLR yet but glad to hear the wifi force is strong with this one :-)

I've got three so far. Used them in LiveGrade and and with fool control. They are fantastic.

Is the full functionality that's available via foolcontrol also available via this when used with foolcontrol? Trying to decide between the hotlink and this.

OT: Norton complains thusly about the teradek url.

Yes same functionality for both foolcontrol iOS or OS X app if you are connecting with COLR.

The canera will need to have a GIG-E port which is available on EPIC / SCARLET brain but not on a DSMC2 base i/o... but those camera have built in wifi ;-)

For any of you in the LA area who haven't had a chance to check out COLR in-person, there are a few events in the next few days to do so.

Tuesday, March 1st at Band Pro Burbank 10am-1pm.
RSVP: www.BandPro.com/Blog/Teradek-Event

Saturday, March 5th at our new location Creative Solutions Los Angeles (CSLA) 2pm-6pm
RSVP: shopcreativesolutions.com/RSVP
In addition to demonstrating COLR's wireless camera control and live color grading, we'll have Tacos, alcoholic beverages and the big one...... complimentary Valet parking (I heard an internal "Yay!" from the LA locals).

See you there!
