Hi all

When i log and transfer into fcp, my name of the clip is changed. It still shows in the source window as A001_C011_040745, but when i generate my xml for flame it looks for A001_0407VQ.RDM.

How do i get the xml to read A001_C011_040745????

I am sure this has come up before, but i could not find a link or thread for it.:out:

Many thanks

That XML name is referring to a Red Digital Magazine (hence RDM), whilst your source window is referring to an individual Red Digital Clip (should end .RDC).

how do i get the edl or xml to read the rdc or show it like that. the edl shows both but the xml in flames wiretap sees the rdc and wont link.

thanks again

FCP7 and previous version

FCP7 and previous version

I dont know if this is a problem for anyone else.

1. In version 6 the xml created from fcp for flame was absolutely fine.
2. Since we loaded 7 the xml keeps making the file name the folder name ...ie
A001_C011_040745, but when i generate my xml for flame it looks for A001_0407VQ.RDM.

I have loaded a xml from version 6 into 7 and redone the xml but its fine.

This only seems to happen with log and tx in version 7????

and this is across 4 x version fcp 7 machines.

any help will be good thanks

When exporting your XML from FCP have you tried using version 4, 3, 2 or 1 instead of 'Apple XML interchange format, version 5"... it may (or may not) help...

else you can send me an email with the XML file that won't import (and an old one that does work) so I could have a look at it and maybe write a fix script if it's possible...

I have tried all 5 of them. Definitely not the problem.

I will post the 2 xml's

might be a LONG shot, but you could try to send to color, and export out as XML from there. might be a small bug within FCP, that could get loop fixed inside of color. Just something to try.

I will give that a bash..but even if i pull this xml into premier i still fall over in flame

We have the same issue with Log and Trans but with EDLs, we've just renamed the tape name to the folder name before sending to the edl to Wiretap and flame. Sounds like the same issue?

Of course this was back when we could use Wiretap to process RED footage. I'm looking forward to the day it supports the MX chip.
