It is possible to run just the TK planel with the Resolve 9 lite? Eventually I want to add all the panels, but can only do so incrementally. Ive' read online the Bt and Kb must connect to Resolve as a pair. Is this the case TK panel as well?

Thanks in advance.

You can run TK panel by itself, but without the Bt and Kb it will be pretty much limited to just using the trackballs. Not worth the effort...

i picked up the element TK for use with resolve lite, and i must respectfully disagree with jake that it's not worth the effort. it's a night-and-day difference to pushing values around with a mouse.

i say that as someone who has just recently started learning what i can about real colour correction and the art & science behind it, so perhaps it fits my learning curve of "one thing at a time". your mileage may vary.

I must disagree as well. Buying JUST TK panel is a waste of money in comparison to something like MC Color. MC Color and TK panel cost about the same, but MC Color is a full featured color grading panel, where TK by itself is just three trackballs. You need to make a decision, either buy all four panels or don't buy them at all.
Said that, i previously had MC Color and based on glowing reviews of Elements by other users, I replaced my MC Color with a full set of Element panels. I ended up being very disappointed with the dismal Resolve mapping and returned Element back only to be replaced with the MC Color again. I find myself much more productive with MC Color at a third of a price and ergonomically speaking, I don't have to constantly move the keyboard out of the way with Element panel. With MC Color I just tuck it under the MC Color panel. Chris, if you're Resolve Lite user and user of a single TK panel, you're a casual user. For anyone using grading panel on a daily basis, ergonomics is of a paramount importance and for me MC Color just works better. And I can use MC Color with a slew of other software even on other computers, as MC Color is networkable. For me buying just TK panel is a waste of money. I wish someone would have posted this information, so i wouldn't have to go thought the same waste of time and money. If at some point Resolve changes mapping for Element or releases the new sub $5k BM panel, I will gladly revisit my panel choice. But for now I strongly recommend MC Color...

Jake, how does it compare to the Tangent Wave? Looks smaller and possibly better in build quality? How does it compare as far as usability with Resolve?

I had used all four third party supported panels and I can just speak about my personal experience. I much prefer MC Color for the ease of use, built quality (Elements by far the best panel in that department), ease of connectivity (I like Ethernet and having MC Color on the network, available for use to any computers on the same network) and wide acceptance by the software developers ( I use MC Color with Resolve, Baselight Editions, Smoke, RCX and over the network on my other computer-PC to run my other Resolve). I'm sure many users of Wave may disagree with this assessment:-)
OK, off to NAB!!!

Thanks for the reply Jake. I have the Wave but it's a little bulky to travel with and I do a lot of out of town jobs where I want to have a panel on set. I think the MC Color looks good for that. I'll wait until after NAB just in case... If you happen to see a new interesting panel please let us know!

...very surprised no-one has come along with anything better yet.

The Tangent Element panels. I have had and used extensively all of them: JC Cooper, Wave, MC Color and now the Element bundle. Element: hands down, the best by far. Once we get the custom mapping from BMD for Resolve, it will be heaven.

By custom mapping..? do you mean just the ability to just assign certain functions to certain buttons.

Also are you useing just the Element track ball or the whole Element set-up. Thank you.

custom mapping is to allow the users to assign the functions he/she needs to any of the buttons/knobs. I do have all panels, and I really do love them...!

It all comes down to personal preferences. Elements is a fabulous panel no question about it. Hands down, the best third party panel out there. Said that, with present Resolve mappings, personally, I prefer MC Color. I just couldn't justify spending almost three times the amount for something, that at least for me, does less. That's why I returned Elements and bought MC Color, again.

Always had connection problems with the MC Color, might be just me but always find myself restarting everything to get up and running. Buttons are a little small and balls too high. Not all functions are labelled so there is a steeper learning curve. Having said that if you use the panel all the time you will remember which controls do what very quickly.
The Wave, Element and the BMD Resolve panel do need a huge mapping overhaul for V10
