Has anyone figured out a solution to mounting the Switronix V-Type Mount Plate to the back of the Scarlet? Didn't realize this thing didn't mount to the back of the camera till after I got it. I'd rather not engineer my own solution, but I will if I have to. Part number GP-S-EPIC10.

Just an update to my thread, I checked out Wooden Camera's Quickback and plate and it looked very nice, and I was about to order it till I realized they were backordered. I did some more research and discovered CinemaOxide also made mounting plates. They've just started rolling out their new mount specifically for the Switronix V-mount plate. It's not listed on their site yet. They sent some pics and it looks awesome. Nice quality aircraft grade aluminum and weighs about 4 ounces. It's a less expensive simpler alternative, especially for someone like me, who really just wanted some way to mount the Switronix plate to the back of the camera. I should be getting it in a couple days and will post another update.

Edit: Plate actually weighs 6.5 ounces now.

Just looked up the plate on CinemaOxide they have the plate posted now on their website. http://www.cinemaoxide.com/brick-back-plate.php . Looks like they improved on the design and it now works with Switronix, IDX, and the RED plate. Best of all the price. At $174 I believe this may be the most affordable option to mounting our V-mounts to the camera.

This looks great and clearly is the most budget friendly plate to mount your Swit. I also like the additional mounting points on the top.

The only thing you are losing with this vs. the WC quickback is the ability to pop off the plate in case you want to mount the Redmote. With this, you would need to keep your torx handy.

And no, the redrock gear won't work with the quickback.

Yeah and in certain circumstances WC recommends you bolt down the Quickback with screws for heavier loads, so if your doing that than your not losing a whole lot when it comes to ease of popping off the plate anyway? Batteries are heavy, it may not be a good idea to put too much strain on that portion of the cam without the screws. Fortunately for me I don't have a Redmote hahaha........but I wish I did :(.

Both of these products are great and to some degree they are serving different purposes. If you need the battery pack to be removable, then the WC quickback is great for that. If you are looking to use the bricks regularly or all the time, then the CinemaOxide Brick Back plate is an excellent option.

The plate looks rather tall on the back of the camera, so I'm wondering if it would interfere with top handles. But I suppose this goes for all battery plate mounted directly to the camera.

I have received the Quickback and the Switronix VMount battery plate etc. and I have got to say its very nice. The Quickback is very light. Backorder time was about 1 week from placing the order. It took 2 weeks to get to the UK because UK customs held the order up.

Got my plate from CinemaOxide this afternoon. Good communications, easy payment and fast delivery. I paid extra and had it overnighted. It was shipped with the necessary hardware and 2 allen wrenches. It took 2 minutes to assemble. and fit very solid. Here's a pic featuring Switronix V-Mount on a Scarlet, and also with a GlobalMediaPro battery which is passing percentage of juice left in the battery perfectly. As far as top handles working with this set up I can't answer? From the top of the camera to the top of the Global Media battery the measured extrusion is 2 1/4" inches. You'd have to make sure it clears that height and hopefully you still have enough clearance to slide the battery in and out. I don't think it's an issue with the plate, the plate is smaller than the battery, so any mounting options on the back of the camera will face the same issue. I know there's a lot of owners out there with WC Quickbacks, have any of them been able to attach a top handle?

Edit: Tried the new firmware update 2.0.8, percentage of battery no longer being shown, just voltage level :(
Edit: I guess it was just a bug, I got the percentage of juice fine after another boot.

The Cinema Oxide plate looks great, I wonder what the weight differences are between it and the Wooden Camera battery plate setup. Looking at the website, it doesn't cover the pins though (understand as there is another product) which would be nice when using the redvolts. What is the standard solution?- tape them up when outside?

This one is 6.5 ounces. Steve Johnson said his Quickback is light, so I'm thinking the difference is probably marginal. Good question about the connectors, when it comes to connectors it's always better to have them covered up. Even if they are gold plated and don't rust, just getting dust on the contacts can ruin a connection. It would be nice to know what others are doing if anything? I think tape would fall off.

Where can I buy a Switronix plate besides Wooden Camera? Nothing wrong with them - I just want to compare prices. Thanks.

I bought mine from AbelCine here http://www.abelcine.com/store/Switronix-GP-S-EPIC-V-mount-Plate-for-RED-Epic-Scarlet/. Though when I did the price wasn't listed, they gave me a quote at a discounted rate for $250 (I did nothing to get a discount rate, all I did was call). Looks like the price is listed now for $320 but it still says contact a rep for availability. Purchasing was a little bit of a hassle, I had to make a copy of my I.D. and my credit card, then fill out a form with the copies of my I.D. on them, then fax it over.

Edit: Would like to add that AbelCine's customer service was pretty awesome and delivered the plate fast. I've had my credit card compromised and it sucked so I understand and appreciate what they do.

Switronix has a list of local vendors but my guess is most of them don't have it in stock. I had a phone conversation with one of mine it went a little like this:

Me: I would like to order the V-mount plate from Switronix part number GP-S-EPIC10
Vendor: What camera is it for?
Me: It's a RED camera
Vendor: No no no no no, you have to tell me what kind of camera, is it Sony, Canon, Nikon.
Me: No it's a RED camera
Vendor: Sir I can't help you if you don't tell me what kind of camera it is.
Me: *Click*

Noel.

If I weigh the QuickBack with the Switronix Battery Plate and the VMount, then its 14oz - so just shy of 1lb.

The QuickBack itself is 4oz.

Hope that helps.
