Hi All,

I'm thinking of combing the Swittronix GP-S-EPIC10 Battery Plate V Mount with a set of Globalmediapro Li160S-R Lith-ion Batt 160WH for Epic. Both are said to pass through the battery info to the Epic's for display on either the Bomb EVF or Touchscreen. But I'm just wondering if anyone else is using this combo and whether they can verify that it works?

It's just that the Switronix says it passes battery info through to the camera when used with either Red Bricks or Switronix Red-X batteries. But if both units (GMP & Swit) pass the battery info through then hopefully they do together?

Additional info greatly appreciated :-)

I read on another thread that the Swit + GMP combo will pass through the remaining wattage but not the %

Seems like that is the most cost effective v-mount solution currently available.

isn't that what all the batteries do right now?

I am on day 3 of my scarlet processing, so as soon as it ships, i can do this exact test for you.

It works guys!

Global Media Pro batteries on a switronix red one battery plate, and a 2b-1b adapter to scarlet.

Hey Zac, Awesome man, thanks for doing this! Appreciate it!

Although the combo that I'm using will be slightly different to yours as it'll be the Swittronix GP-S-EPIC10 Battery Plate V Mount which I believe plugs straight into the Epic. But it's seems like Switronix, Global Media Pro and the Epic are all talking to each other pretty nicely!

No worries, it should work, and I'm really glad it does!

How does the Swittronix GP-S-EPIC10 Plate can be fixed to epic/scarlet ?

Thanks Adam.
On woodencamera website, i'm wondering about the
QB Battery Back (Swit/IDX). What's the purpose of this ? Can't the battery be fixed to switronix v-mount ?

Man... these batteries are awesome, 3hrs 4minutes (Standby and recording, and general playing in menus...)

Haven't checked charging times, I have better things to do then watch until it charges

30min/redvolt * $195 = $6.50/min
180min/GMP * $299 = $0.60/min

Side Handle + Travel Charger = $1,075
Swit V-Mount + Wooden Camera QB + GMP Charger = $765

I think the power choice is pretty academic at this point unless you are willing to pay a hefty premium for a smaller, more lightweight setup.

Agreed Doug,

Also, I spoke with GMP this week and they are releasing a 190Wh Buddy system with V-Lock. This will essentially be 2x96Wh batteries that connect together to make a 190Wh battery, whilst avoiding the 100Wh battery limit enforced by TSA and other travel agencies. Stay tuned end of the month or there abouts they think! :-)

I agree with your numbers, but there is more to it than that.

It should be noted that with the DSMC Side Handle and V-Mount Solution you get hot swap ability as well as a much more convenient way to operate the camera. Especially in handheld and shoulder situations.

It's more money and more gear to carry/charge, but it does add something to your system that is certainly valuable.
