Hi

Just ordered the SmallHD 702 via Chris and his GB. Probabaly picking up the Woody Directors Cage.

Earlier in the year I had been looking at the smaller Paralinx products.

What are you guys using for wireless feeds to Directors Monitors? Not looking for massive distance.

Thanks

i was looking for the same information, i thought there was a small thumbnail size hdmi transmitter and receiver option for short distances but i dont see it on their page anymore.

I don't like the design of this, it's like a killing gear. Why not use a simple portabrace that the director could hang around his shoulder?

Pat

I understand the motivation of the design was to allow for any size monitor.

this was more of what i was talking about, so the thumb drive sized transmitter just plugs into the hdmi output and gets power, or you need to use the usb port as well for power, that might be perfect for the jetpack expander!
and how do you power the receiver?

also, the design of the monitor cage is great, no director i know wants to be lugging around a port a brace on their shoulder, they want to be handed this, watch the shot and hand it back and direct the talent. we used to just have rig something up like this from grip equipment. believe me, directors love this.
not sure what you meant by killing gear?

I've used these Ikan handles with my TV Logic 5.6" and I just got the Small HD 702, and it fits great in the handles! My Teradek Bolt mounts to the top of the handles and powers off the Swit Batteries with the extra 2.5mm connector. So the Swit battery (Sony L-style) goes on the monitor and the Teradek Receiver also plugs into the battery. I also have a suicide strap (made for DSLR's, with a 1/4-20 bolt on it) to go around the neck and can screw on a Baby pin to mount the handles to a C-Stand when not in use.

so does the swit battery have an extra port to power something else?

Cinegears is a great system if you need SDI and decent range and it's pretty inexpensive.

However, if you're just looking for decent range via HDMI, the Paralinx Triton is amazing!! Small profile, multiple channels, etc. 450ft LOS which is great! Even goes through walls, floors, etc.

If 300 foot range works for you, we have a Paralinx Arrow+ 1-1 or 1-2 system for sale...

Thank you,

Yes, the Swit batteries have an extra 2.5mm jack on the back of them, and you can get a 2.5mm to Lemo cable that plugs into it. This is how I power the Teradek, while the battery sits on the plate of the 702 and powers it that way.

wow, that is interesting, do you know if it takes one or two of these to power the 702? i know the 502 works off one canon battery(not too long though)
and is there a swit charger you use for this battery or an original sony one, or do you think it matters? thank you!

Just one battery (Canon or Sony L) will power the monitor, but you can put two of either battery on at once. That wasn't clear to me from the pictures on the Small HD site, because I thought one side was Canon and the other side was Sony, but both sides are Canon or Sony, so two of either battery can work. And you can put the battery on either side, and it will still work -- there's no primary side you have to put the battery on.

It's a great monitor, and while I think it could be a bit brighter outdoors, you can still see it way better than my TV Logic. The menu and customization options are really good.

I use the Swit dual charger, which also acts as an AC power supply with the included L-series adapter.

oh wow, that's huge in a pinch or if you know you are just going to be lighting for the next hour :)
so this one?
