Shawn, how cool is it that you just got tech support on a Sunday night?
No kidding. And just look who the tech support is coming from. That is unbelievable customer service.

Damn... foiled again!
That said, I've had the RED DRIVE mount on a MacBook Pro and Mac Pro directly to a FW800 port or through an external [albeit powered] FW800 drive.
So it works... but my mistake.
Washers?Am I missing something?

i had a red drive connected via firewire 400 to my macbook (NOT pro) without external power supply of the drive and i could copy the files without problems.
why is it not recommended?

Lim,
You will essentially get fewer compression artifacts in the blacks, more information in hues. It's very tough to tell the difference IMHO even when pushing the image pretty hard. (all this based on some testing)
So if you are having throughput issues with your media then wise man say Redcode28 serve you well.![]()

An interesting side-note to my first use of the Red-Drive, no matter how tight I screwed in the side-screws, the Red-Drive still freely slid in and out. Am I missing something?
