  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

STOLEN Raven Brain

I know this guy.
I was going to buy the EXACT set through Facebook. I refused wire transfer and insisted on meeting in person (I'm in Michichigan so it was only 6 or so hours to meet). Then he couldn't go, had to be his brother. Guy plays in a band local to his region, apparently crosses the border for shows as well. Then he couldn't meet at all because he needed to keep the camera for a job coming up, he was "very sorry" and "I hope you understand" or there abouts. I lost three jobs because I made the mistake of telling clients I was about to acquire a Raven, booked and deposits paid up. In hindsight, he REALLY wanted to ship it to me. Looks like meeting in person wasn't an option for him.

Nail his ass to the wall, Levi.

Unfortunately this is issue is really throwing a wrench in all of my projects - they start on Wednesday and as of right now al I got is a lot of DSMC2 accessories and an A7s lol not the ideal situation.

I think I would have to work hard not to ring somebody's neck....worth a drive I think.

Well at least we know that he really had a Raven. And you said only the brain is missing but the accessories were still there? I would've figured some of the accessories would be stolen too. Weird.

Yeah ... got everything but the Raven and Mini-Mag. Talked to Luc earlier this afternoon and now also wondering if maybe the guy who packaged it up at the UPS store took and peek and grabbed what looked expensive.

File a police report. I would expect the UPS store would have CCtv to see the drop off took place and the packaging was done and if the box was even opened by the employee.
I don't understand the - let the UPS guy pack it up. I am paranoid every time I sell something. I am packing that box. Delivering it to store. Getting the label, etc.

It would be great to catch the camera thief on camera....if it actually got shipped......

Damn, so sorry to hear this. Totally disgusts me that people are willing to do this shit to others. I'll keep an eye out over here in NY. Hopefully this gets resolved for you asap.

I know what my gut reaction would be...but sometimes patience is best in these matters. If Luc is telling the truth, then he's probably as horrified as you are right now. Not sure I agree with the approach of letting a UPS person pack the gear, and admittedly this is a red flag to me. I simply would never let that happen under any circumstances. So, best bet is let authorities help you, especially in terms of the UPS employee. They can probably get access to the camera feeds and of course they will question any suspects. Hope this works out. If Red can't help you, maybe there are some Redusers close by who can lend a hand.

I have some emails out to RED, UPS and some other people regarding this.

That was a red flag too and I'm still working on getting an answer to that. I live in the middle of nowhere (closest Wal-Mart is 30 min away) so I always pack my own stuff and do labels so idk if it's different when you take it to a UPS store.

When you take it to the UPS store you most definitely can have it pre-packaged by yourself and just ask them to weigh it and give you a label only with the charge.

though i have a ups box and when its over a certain amount of value they WANT to pack it themselves so there is proof that what is insured is actually in there, but with a camera system they might not actually be able to tell what it is and whats worth what. have you talked to the ups store that did the packing?

My opinion and it's just that, but its absurd to think of taking risks like that as a seller. I couldn't even imagine doing that, borderline negligence. I've used UPS stores before albeit for smaller things and sometimes if you pay them to pack it, and they're busy they will set things aside, but still common sense should've taken over there(if true).

Understood but... to walk away without them doing that in the seller's presence? THAT is suspect.

Damn dude, that sucks! Hopefully Luke can come on here and defend himself. It sounds very fishy that only the brain was missing. Hope you get it back Levi. Good luck to you

totally agree with Steve. You don't really know what went wrong or what happened. But getting the authorities involved sooner rather than later is probably the best "next step"
