  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Still + Motion

Everything Red is PROGRESSIVE, not interlaced... Interlaced is so NTSC :wink5:

Yeah we don't do Interlaced.. but some people still export interlaced from whatever program they are using as per their own deliverable requirements.... we can't do anything about that :)

nice...
now all I need is my stage 2 EPIC to ship.....

Is the 35 minute stand by time based on using red volts or red brick batteries? Not being able to use the redvolts (still waiiting on a side handle) has been a pain.

Makes stage 4 waiting seem like "forever".

Jarred, can I join the team? Please......

:))

Great one!!

Flexible... some people shoot the Wide format (specially in 5K) to get the maximum frame rate.

Yeah... that would be me, oh, apart from the fact that I absolutely LOVE WS for both Horizontal and Vertical shooting, Portrait in WS is seek... Wait till I get the first set of prints done for our Gallery... ;)

heh heh heh.. wait till you have the R90.....

I just "joined" the red team earlier today ( though I feel I have been a member for a long time ). Scarlet on order and I couldn't be happier!

Probably the biggest aspect that I went round and round on was power! I had a modest budget, and decided to NOT go with Red Bricks or ABs, instead opting for 2 extra Redvolts and another charger. The documentarian in me knows I may still have to rent or buy more robust power next time I am in Africa, but having a more reasonable battery life on the Redvolts is a HUGE relief! Good show!

Now the documentarian and cinematographer are both happy!

Exactly what we're planning on testing w/ our scarlet when we take delivery. Need to test using it for our motion projects along with architecture photo. Adapting a single camera to manage both tasks really turns us on.

Also testing the adaptability for a new Canadian tv network in EFP scenarios. We need it soon Jarred ;)

One thing that's come out of this discussion for me, and has been mentioned kind of in reverse, is that the camera uses barely more juice when shooting than it does in ready mode. Makes sense seeing it's recording to SS media but nonetheless is worth highlighting I think. It means that, once you know how much power you're consuming and budgeted your batteries and chargers accordingly, it makes little difference how much you shoot. Cool!

Great news, my 8 redvolts will do the job after all.
And great stills motion workflow. I cannot stop thinking how awesome these cameras are !

Don't worry Lee... you are seeing it the worst it will be, as power management is not in the firmware yet.

that was great to hear, Jarred just your wild guess what would you recon the standby time with the touch screen on will increase too within the next couple of months?

We got 8 volts at the moment and 2 chargers and the camera is on a trip in asia shooting on different locations each day some without power... then battery life time is then very much key. I know there is other options out there but I like the small units and very much want the quad bat module so we do not want to buy something else in the meantime. If the bat time would double for example that would be huge. One suggestion would be some sort of low energy button in the mean time, so the camera goes to sleep kind of like a computer but pops back up again when touching the screen or such.

i think i'm still planning on some Red Bricks as well, they may be heavier but it really seems like they're worth it as far as battery life.
