  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Still changing...

Ooops, I misread those posts, thought you were referring to the Ikonoskop.

I don't drink the alcohol [much] myself, practically none. I prefer water or a good tea.

The "silver" renders are a representation of our tumbled aluminum prototypes (which we really like). The black renders are more what we expect the shipping cameras to look like. Truth is you really never know what we will do when it is time to ship.

Actually, I just love playing around with this render program and Matt's models.

Hello,

Something you should consider when thinking about these different metals for bodies. If you plan to release a large amount of different metals of lens mounts, the material in the brain and in the mount may react over time and corrode.

Integrated CF module

Integrated CF module

I know this won't go down well with everyone, but in my opinion the integrated dual CF module is a step in the wrong direction - it sort of spoils the modularity of the DSMC system.

If the CF reader/writer develops a fault or requires upgrading (both scenarios familiar to many RED ONE users, I believe) then the whole brain will be out of action.

I always thought it made perfect sense to remain an interchangable module (the red-coloured one seen in the 'Another taste...' thread); especially for those who prefer not to use CF.

Of course I may be reading the renders wrongly, and we're only seeing superceded designs/prototypes, so RED may have since gone back on this decision.

The CF module has never been integrated..... on any product we have ever made (or designed)...

Then what's this? I honestly wouldn't mind if you were able to insert two CF cards into the brain. It'd save me the money in buying a CF Card Module.

Hey I just noticed there is a GigE port. What's it for? Streaming REDCode? Downloading from CF Cards. (Using CF Cards as like... RAM). Monitoring? Just Control? All of the above?

I've been lurking for a week or so. Timing is everything. Deposit here and now. I can't really afford it, but this camera and a good Apple box can make me money. Imspired.
