  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Still changing...

Even though the CF module looks integrated it isn't actually. [...] The ribs on the left side of the brain are actually from the CF module.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up - hope I wasn't the only one that misinterpreted the render!

The CF module has never been integrated..... on any product we have ever made (or designed)...

Even this one? :whistling:

When a "module" becomes "integrated" you will see only slots..... A "module" is a part of a "modular" system.... ;-D

Don't forget nothin is set and somethings are there just to throw 'people' off the scent...

That is correct... those entire slots where changeable from the inside. We are ( and were ) very aware of future technologies and even at that point new we didn't want to be married to a dying format.... That is why the RED ONE has a removable side module as well....

Well if the miniprimes are any kind of comparison to what the PRO series promises to be...I'll just stick to RED.

Still like to see a mini-prime though...

Me too...
All I want is a scarlet 2/3 + mini red primes!

Don't have to get me grubby paws onto it just a double-page spread for me wall!!

Jared, I think he was trying to validate the original assumption that Fixed Lens Scarlet was going to have CF mounting capabilities right from the box.

That isn't really a CF module. It is a camera render with CF slots. A "module" is an independent unit that can be used to construct a more complex. I don't see anything being independent or modular in that picture. :D

Um, yeah. That wasn't really my point. Perhaps I should have used the word 'component' or 'subsystem' instead of 'module'. My point was that CF reading/writing capabilities should remain a user-interchangeable element of the camera system, which Jarred has now confirmed is still the case with the DSMC. Glad to see that RED are way ahead of me.

Yeah, I was just teasing (although now I'm impressed that even the early Scarlet prototype had interchangeability in mind).

Jarred - for people (like me) that would prefer the rear-mounted CF module over the side-mounted version (assuming you'll still offer both), will the brains come with a 'blanking-plate' to cover the side?

Well, if they provide lenses that aren't included in the RED set, then clearly no one loses out. It's good to have a healthy mix of companies providing lenses for a particular mount, so you don't always have to wait for one company to get around to your particular need.

P.S. Here is the same news from CNET

"mobile phone battery that can be charged in just 10 seconds"

WOW... I have been disappointed with the development of battery technology. It seems we are going to catch up to where we were supposed to be once that drops.

And even before that Red did that with Red One.

I'd still like to see the PRICE of a mini-prime.

Come on guys. I'll take a ballpark estimate. You guys can make it higher or lower, but I just want a guesstimate to see if I'm going interchangeable or fixed lens.

PLEEEEEEEEASE!

Not less than $100, not more than $5000 each. :waaa:
