Does anyone know when we can put in our reservation/deposit for Stage 3?

I figure Stage 2 has closed so we should be able to sign up for Stage 3 soon...

Good question. And I would like to pay up before I spend the money I put away for it! :emote_22_yikes:

I wouldn't say stage 2 is closed. Those who executed may or may not put the deposit in on time canceling all their options. After June 1st RED will know who is going stage 2.

yeah. stage 2, afaik, was extended one time until May 5th... after that, closed for good. there probably would have been a thread if they extended it a second time.

hopefully they'll announce when the Stage 3 people can sign up and send in deposit. I too want to get it in their hands so I don't spend it on something else.

I bet it will happen after the majority of stage two cameras are delivered.

I hope so, because I simply do not have the funds to take delivery at the moment but wish so much that I did.

well, the thing about not having the sign up for Stage 3 until after most of the Stage 2 cameras are delivered would be like purposely ramping down production to process all the money/paperwork/etc. That just doesn't make sense to me.

I would imagine that the goal would be to continue production as seamlessly as possible. Once the Stage 2 deadline has passed - start the Stage 3 sign up and set whatever sign-up deadline for that. If it's planned properly, production and manufacturing could potentially bat out all the cameras needed for Stage 3 immediately after the Stage 2 cams are off the production line.

If I was producing cameras and had a similar situation, that's what I'd aim to do anyhow... I guess we'll see.

Nah, it wont happen that far away RED will want our dough earning interest for them. They would have $17,500,000 sitting there earning thousands a day based on only 3500 Stage 2 takers... and thats only based on the initial $5k deposits.

I wonder if RED will release the no. of people who took up Stage 2 so Stage 3 and beyond will know how many orders they need to fulfill...

Quasi related -- has there been any indication/ballpark of when the earliest we will see Stage 3 EPIC cameras ship? I'm considering the MX upgrade, but won't do it if I will see an EPIC in the next 6 months.

It doesn't make sense to pay for the cameras before they are ready. Personally, I have nowhere near enough money for the upgrade, so I hope they don't start taking orders any time soon. Besides, I want them to get it right, nothing less than fully polished. You don't get good craftsmanship by rushing things.

Now that RED is ramping up to put Epics into production, I'd love to know when the doors will be open for Stage 3 deposits. I'm looking forward to being on the Stage 3 list. :)

Any info, RED team? I'm hoping there will be a Recon post about it or something if nothing is set yet.

Mitch, since they are likely to be going by ship date or camera number or whatever, there's really no advantage to the customer to put down a deposit for Stage 3.

And unlike for Stage 2 where they perhaps needed to gauge interest, RED doesn't really need that information for Stage 3.

I'm thinking they send an email saying your turn has come up and you can enter Stage 3 or keep your camera and exercise an option for the discount on a Scarlet (and mark your camera executed)... or you can simply do nothing and exercise your right to trade your camera in on a Monstro Brain whenever that comes out.

RED will then move any Stage 3 eligible camera owner's (who do not exercise their option(s) for Stage 3) camera on down the line where there are Stage 3 1/2 or Stage 4 buyers waiting. So I'm not so sure they will even require a deposit for Stage 3. You either exercise your option for the full amount due or you don't. Stage 2 has a "backout" penalty of having your camera number marked "executed", but Stage 3 has no penalty if you do not opt in.

Elsie - That makes sense. I just don't want to miss the boat for Stage 3.
I agree. It would be good to hear from RED officially how they are going to handle Stage 3.

Second what Mitch said.
Some new information about the Stage 3 would be wonderful. I've been in a limbo over the MX upgrade.... I'm ready to put the deposit/payment down for Epic, if it's still some time away, I'd love to upgrade the sensor on my R1.

I know the Red team is very busy over getting the Epic ready for production but even a little hint of what's going on with Stage3 would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance!
