I know the ASC Bible has DOF and Field of View charts for film, but is there a publication with that info for chips?

There are plenty of 2/3 inch chips out there, but the newer chips are bigger sizes, can this be calculated without the camera? Has anyone done the math?

Camera dojo has a nice post on this here : http://cameradojo.com/2008/09/09/how-to-calculate-depth-of-field/

You need to know the Circle Of Confusion (COC) which can be rather complicated but a pretty good calculation for a CCD or CMOS is roughly the sum of the diameter of 2 pixels.

David Eubank (a fine AC) has a great application called pCam http://www.davideubank.com/ which is an excellent way to manage this data and calculations.

Hope this helps

I'm familiar with the search engine. It is nice. I couldn't find any "DOF Chart", "Chip Chart", etc.

Thanks for the helpful reply Michael.

I've read many discussions about DOF, I actually read this thread, I was just asking if there was a chart the Red community is aware of, possibly a pdf., that charts the distance near/far compared to f-stop for various sized lenses and for various sized sensors.

David Eubank's application looks promising; I just don't own a Palm or iPhone.

I would suggest the American Cinematographer's Society Manual
