Here's a quick timeline from Sony:

*Launch F3 - charge $3K per camera for a firmware update to unlock S-Log

*C300/Scarlet Prices Announced - Start a limited promo for all new F3 purchases to include S-Log free. Tell early F3 adopters that they can pay $3k for the upgrade or go stuff it. No credit for S-Log purchasers.

*4 Months after C300/Scarlet Announcement - Nuke all old F3 models and launch a 'new' model that includes S-Log free of charge. Tell early F3 adopters that they can pay $900 for the upgrade or go stuff it. Thank current S-Log users for the $2,100 early adopter tax.

Fortunately I made the right choice and waited for Scarlet. Tough luck for all those Sony folks!

So much crying over this, I am getting bored by it. In the professional world 3k is not a lot for turning this camera into a completely different and much better camera.
I paid for it a year ago and have enjoyed it a a lot. But, I think sony did a big mistake in not including the s-log in first place. The camera has been underrated by non
s-log users.

If you are gonna make a post every time a business does something that doesn't sit well with you.... Then you could be in for the highest post count ever.

I'm sure Sony could point their lazer beam on RED just as easily.... Selling "ready to shoot" packages, then not shipping a screen or EVF, for instance.

No camera is perfect, no business is perfect.
