Wow, I feel like you've been reading my mind Dean!
I dunno. I'm in a cranky end-of-day mood, so please take it with an ocean of salt. I stopped your video early with the feeling it's a video about yourself talking about yourself asking questions about why so many people talk about themselves in a forum asking for feedback about yourself.
Chances are if I watched the whole thing, there would be some legit ideas and openness in there. Again, sorry. My shallow first impression since you're asking.
This was a great video, interesting topic and I share many if not all of your thoughts.
I think perhaps your most important point was how it seems that our core focus which should be to make great videos can be forgotten. I always think of the time spent on social media and wonder what people could have made if they instead focused that energy on making something.
I think of the old masters like Kafka and that noone knew how fantastic they were. They created their craft without anyone actually knowing and yet it was fantastic. Of course there is nothing wrong with sharing, since you can give a lot of value, but I think one should consider why one is sharing. Is it to get praise or is it to give actual value.
Btw you are a great presenter, would be great to see more videos like this one. In fact I thought the clips from movies were a bit out of place because the narration was so well done.
Cheers,
Andreas

Not sure if that was a dig or a commentary of the content?
Sorry it was a comment agreeing there are so many useless self centered attitude / selfies / narcissism posted all over on social media.
Good video.
Elon Musk has it wrong. The downfall of civilization will not be from the rise of artificial intelligence. It will be from social medias erosion of ACTUAL intelligence.
Social media is cancerous and vanity is just one of its many many symptoms.
Hmmmm.... sincere, thoughtful... and maybe a bit long. zzzzz
Very good and thought-provoking sentiments which would mean something to me if I had ever in my life seen your posts before today. Sorry, no offense, but I haven't (just as, I am sure, you have never seen mine).
Feels like this conversation was really for an audience of one - you - and I was just asked to voyeuristically look in. Truth is, maybe this is a conversation you'd want to have with your therapist. But, good for you for discussing it with your business partner - that one could lead to some very positive outcomes.
To be sure, I agree with all the sentiments and views about social media that you posit. But, you really didn't bring much to the party other than the fact that you agree with the many, many, many critics of social media "out there." (People do podcasts and write books about this stuff all the time.)
The very best parts were the comedic interludes - where you "show it" rather than relying on "telling it." Otherwise, it was hard to tell the structure of your argument (assuming there as one) and just exactly what I might take away from it other than a "feeling." (Maybe the old structural approach of "tell 'em what you're going to tell them, then tell the, then tell them what you told them" would apply here.) What was your objective and what would you like to happen as a result the video? Not to be mean but, hopefully, it actually was meant for more than just the narcissistic purpose of saying "looking at me and my sincere thoughts about social media!" - I truly believe it was.
And - from a production/editing perspective - I found the cutting in and out - presumably to maintain visual interest during the very long monologue - rather distracting. Occasionally, it seemed to be for a purpose (emphasizing a point) but mostly just random.
You seem like a genuinely pleasant, sincere and "cool" guy (not being sarcastic!). I think we Americans love the down under accent. I'm guessing you are also good at what you do. I hope that, now that you have this off your chest, you can get on with your work and make some great media!!!
And, yes, let's all strive to try to create value and provide something worthwhile with our social media activity. The world would be a better place.
Peace and good fortune!!!
