  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Smooth Iris and Focus with Canon L Series Lenses

Supposedly the REDLINK sdk allows the iris to be controlled in 1/6500ths increments. So Foolcontrol is capable somewhere under the hood. Not sure if your lens/mount though would do it smoothly.

Does the Optitron smoothly control the aperture? The Birger/Impero combination certain did not.

Thanks.

Stephen

I have the Optitron and all it does is tell the Epic to set the aperture, so it behaves the same way as when you set the aperture with the camera. Yes it jumps to position in 1/4 or 1/3, depending on menu setting, stops as always with Canon electronically controlled iris.

IIRC That is a function of the Canon lenses, they only work in 1/4 stops.

Actually L series lenses step in 1/8 stop.
We have that resolution now with the latest software. As well as ability to control our other cameras that we support
Sony and soon ARRI Amira
