I shot a slow-mo party booth this past weekend at 1500 fps which turned out great! Looking forward to when i can shoot that frame rate at 5K. I also started a high speed video only Instagram account with a friend that you can check out. @Grand3ur

We also ran a live feed of the slow mo footage to a 16 foot projector that the entire party could see. It looked pretty amazing!

The music is just perfect.

That looked like a lot of fun to shoot.

Thanks! It was a huge blast to shoot. Clean up however was less fun, but still worth it.

EDIT: I should also note that this was lit entirely with LED panels. We put them in two banks of 5 so we had 10 LED Panels total. We were able to achieve 1/3000th shutter with only one circuit of power.

I used to do these a lot and learned the hard way after the first time to roll out the large sheets of paper Home Depot sells to cover flooring while doing home renovation. Definitely worth it.

Yeah we laid out plastic tarps but some mess slipped by and everyone tracked confetti and other mess from their shoes out into the rest of the party.

Shot on Epic?

Cant be Epic, it maxes out at 1kws at a modest 400fps. Could be a Phantom I'd guess...Or an Epic plus txixtor to fake 1500fps? Heck if I know... I just wish my Epic could do bursts, or that my Dragon can, cuz I really love what Phantoms do but I like things modular and trade in able at Red, and I fear trying to monetize on a 100k camera that I can't upgrade from. Have to buy one assuming I might not be able to break even, been looking at Phantom refurbs lately and glass...can't make up my mind

I did a very similar shoot last month for D8's 1st birthday (a french TV channel).

We shot it on EPIC at 3K / 150 fps only. It was already 6x realtime so it allowed both for a nice slowmotion effect and some reframing if needed... It was good fun playing with soap bubbles and all the classic party gadgets !

I can confirm the floor needs serious covering and the studio requires a good cleaning anyway after such a shoot !

I found one link to one of the spot online but sadly it might not be visible outside France... just tried here in Argentina and it won't play.

Footage was shot on a Phantom camera at over 1500 fps with a 180 degree shutter (1/3000th) for beautifully sharp slow motion images.

That's a lot less than I expected for three hours' worth of super slo-mo footage!

Yeah I thought we would shoot more than that too, but since Phantom has to write all the frames from RAM to Cineflash after each shot it slows the process down a bit. We also didn't save the entirety of every shot. Each shot is 4058 frames at a maximum and we only saved between 1000 and 2500 frames of each shot. This cuts down on unnecessary data and makes it fast since it doesnt have to save as many frames.

The delays weren't too bad, it usually took 2-3 minutes between each new shot, but that's about how much time it took to traffic one group out, the next group in, and explain how it works.

This guy cracks me up ... and he never moves a muscle.

Plus, I have a penchant for 20-something girls doing Charlie's Angels impressions. :yesnod:

It really is a great weekend gig for a Phantom owner/operator.

Great shots! Was this in LA or Portland?

What LED lights did you use? Must have been a ton to get such good exposure!

Thanks, this was shot in LA, but we go back and forth between Portland/LA/NY all the time. Most of the lights are Fancierstudio 1008 LED panels. They are cheap chinese manufactured, but they work great so far. We had ten LED panels total, but we have them configured into two banks of five so they all fit on two combo stands. All the lights and camera were powered on a single circuit which is pretty amazing to get that type of shutter speed on a single circuit.
