  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

Looks great Eric. I like the bold lighting and deliberate production design. That second picture in particular looks like a work of art.

Thanks Les, working with some amazing people up here in mid-western Canada.

Its freezing out so its nice to work in a warehouse with all them lights to paint the picture ;)

Hey les

I think the problem is you are putting up loads and I mean loads of the same image with no reason why. Try just putting up 1 or 2 of the images or videos that may inspire.

Cheers

Suresh

Okay Suresh, I hear what you're saying. I think we're looking at things a bit differently, but I can understand where you're coming from.

I'll re-adjust my output here if it's just going to cause trouble otherwise.

No worries Andree, was just shooting and sharing, for a variety of reasons.

Les, you seem to be thoroughly enjoying your camera—that's the most important thing. I understand that you see something different in all the images you post.

Like Suresh though, I also found it hard to follow the thinking, or the reason, why there were so many very similar images. When I asked you to expand you thinking, it simply meant that I wanted to better understand what to look at. It wasn't a provokation. At the least, it wasn't meant as one.

I don't think there needs to be hard rules on how many images one can post. But when you post many, they tend to dominate the thread and I think it is only logical that your fellow forum users want to know what they're looking at. Anyway, no harm meant.

Andree seems to go through bad days recently regarding the negativeness of his posts. I don't even understand why he's coming to this specific thread as, in another thread, he wishes Red to drop the scarlet and seems to just think that the canon 1Dc is the best thing to own anyway.

?

I come to this specific thread looking for footage, or links to footage shot on Scarlet Dragon.

I do wish that RED drops Scarlet and just sells the Epic—below $20k. Preferably $15k.

My current camera is a Canon 1Dc. It's what works best for me at this time. I also know that it's a camera that would be a good fit for a lot of people, but that's for everyone to decide for themselves. I don't come to Reduser to discuss Canon—there are better forums for that exchange.

Look at when I joined the forum. I've been following RED for a long time. They just don't make a camera I can use. Yet.

It's alright Andree. Perhaps it would have made more sense if I'd put more descriptions with the pictures, pointing out and explaining some of the differences and details or interesting points I was seeing.

Something else I could have given more consideration to is the fact that there are so many ways to view this thread (ie. via different kinds of screens and resolutions and formats), it's possible the pictures aren't even being seen by others the way I'm seeing them. I knew that beforehand, having seen how crappy the pictures can look on phones and other monitors, but just went and posted the pictures anyway on the off-chance they might translate alright onto other peoples screens, and figuring no-one would really care if they didn't. Co-incidentally, I've just started using a different monitor myself in the last couple of days, and that alone has made me do a re-think on what and how much I should be posting, as it makes all the pictures I've posted so far look very different to how they were intended to appear, even to me.

I was aware I was posting more frequently than others, but I wasn't looking at it as domination, more like holding the door open on the thread for others to come in and participate/contribute.

Wasn't presenting my pictures as inspiration for others either, not sure why it's assumed I was or should be. Unless it's in regards to inspiring others to take advantage of the image-capturing capabilities of the camera's themselves, examples of which may have been present in my pictures, as that's what I myself found inspiring.

The Scarlet's, MX and Dragon, are phenomenal image-capturing devices. That was the main point I was trying to convey/share.

Some other stuff I could say, but this has already turned into more of a drama than I'm comfortable with.

Shut up and shoot that Scarlet.

(But think twice about what pictures you post afterwards.)

Edit - Sorry for helping bury your pictures Eric. I was actually going to post some final pictures and explanations, then quote your previous post to bring your pictures back to the everyone's attention, but you beat me to it.

I am re-posting this set of frames from a recent shoot with my Scarlet.

I am waiting for approval on another set of frames but it doesnt look like I will get it.

No grading, just REDCOLOR3 and REDGAMMA4 (not sure why it was on this setting must have been due to new firmware).

Please any thoughts on the images posted. We have two more shoot days but that wont be till January.

Last day on set:

J Obertone...lovely frames ;)

Here is a comparison between dragon 6k and Scarlet 4k, all same settings but with dragon color 2, color space. DC2 really makes the footage come very in range of dragon footage. So no matter what RED you got get out there and shoot its a world class camera.
