  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

shut up and shoot that Scarlet

A first look at our new film from Superproof. It is a suspense/drama based film incorporating the best backcountry skiers in the world. Dec was focused around shooting the storyline stuff and the rest of the winter we will be filming the skiing side of things. We are a small 3 man crew for all of these shoots.

Was bored, so I decided to try a "darker" image than most of my color and saturated things. (open image in new tab)

Looks great Adam.

The subject, composition, colours and smooth air-brush like tones remind me of some of H.R.Giger's art work.

Got any more framing or grading variations you can post? LoL :biggrin5:

Thank you! I don't have another one at the moment. I was playing with slow mo, but it didn't turn out as great as I thought it would. Once I get the Low Light OLPF, I will be able to crank ISO for higher shutter speeds.

Hey Adam, what lens did you use?
Rokinon 50mm around F2.8, 6K at 2:1 compression (4fps), 1280 ISO, Skin Tone OLPF, 1/96 shutter, D.E.B and A.D.D. (Scarlet Dragon)

Tilt lenses are so cool! If I had more "throwaway" money, I would buy one in a second.

They are. These however were done in post. There is something I like about the T/S effect at 85mm plus and I don't know if they even make them that long for real.

I took these tonight trying out frame summing and averaging with the interval function as well. Scarlet is a little buggy with all that going on (split screen lockups and such) but I am on the beta right now. Nothing punching in and out didn't solve. There are so many combinations of stuff it's a bit overwhelming. Anyone finding any sweet spots for timelaps purposes?

My brother asked me to take a picture for his "business profile". He really wanted shallow DoF, so I don't normally open up the lens up so much, but the picture will be resized small enough where you won't see the CA.

Justin lovely frames!

Graded?

Beautifully shot and graded footage Scott. Well told 'story' too, that I have no doubt a lot of people could relate to and would benefit from seeing.

Justin, really like the look you've got going there. Interesting to see some realistic-looking and down-to-earth on-screen talent too for a change. Would definitely like to see some more frames or footage if possible.

The beta firmware that allowed me to shoot 60fps in 3k ws had just shipped the week we did this gig. I had never shot a real project on Beta firmware before, but it seemed meant to be.

Personally I still think you can see a giant difference between 3k and 4k on Scarlet, and I wish I had an Epic for this job (and pretty much every job). I think I did have to use the 19mm for that 60fps shot as well because of sensor cropping, which is likely adding a bit of softness as well, since it's the weakest lens of my set. I am definitely thinking of switching my upgrade from Scarlet Dragon which doesn't seem to currently exist to Epic-x.

The sound mix in this is fantastic. Subtle but superb.
