  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SHOT ON RED Film Festival Submissions Open

Jarred I understand why I didn't get a answer on coming to RSH for a preview of the PJ on the 4-5 of dec....:)

And does dnx do 4k now ?

'tis a secret only known by the most secret of societies. The hazing and branding are totally worth it! The handshake is hard to learn. Harder than calculus.

excellent idea, 4k projection... pretty sweet stuff. I'll be there, one way or another.

Bummer.

We just finished this... At 2k.

Great looking stuff Jason.. hopefully you can reconform to 4k not just for this festival, but because we know some 4K players are going to be on the market before the end of the year and all the companies releasing them are going to be gobbling up 4K content to show for christmas.

4K submissions only - we have a couple of sponsors who are willing to help with a re-conform to 4K at a reduced rate, more on that will be added to the site in the next 24 hours.

Oh well... Recently finished a lyrical documentary piece i like a lot shot entirely at 240~300 fps, so had to grit my teeth and agree to shoot 2k... no way to reconfirm. I am assuming uprezing doesn't count, right? or am i missing something?

Damn, that's a stiff requirement. I have some shorts, but they did the VFX in 2k so the films are finished in 2k. 4k VFX is a bit tricky to get people to go for, especially for a short.

3D submissions? Have a project in post shot in stereo at 3K at 48fps. Is this acceptable? The 3D DCP will have to go back to 2K as I've never heard of a 3K 3D DCP, let alone how to make one. Maybe next year?Craig LeesScarlet X (in the year) 2525London/New ForestUK

Maybe it's possible to pull off "spiderman 2" and blow up the vfx and apply a bit of sharpening. Yeah, doesn't look the same, I know.

The data management alone in order to copy source files is going to take quite some time, much less a conform to spit out the 4K master...as it is I will be on the road shooting a doc all next week and it's a set schedule, something I can't change.

Doing 2K DPX out of RCX took 4 days of transcoding via e-sata with a Red Rocket on my 125 minute feature.

That said, my sound mix is complete. Picture lock is done.

If I had another week's notice this might actually fall into the realm of possibility, but to copy all the R3D files to drives and send off is going to take a huge amount of time...and I still don't know where I would be sending said footage.

Um... I'm just re-rendering some stuff from Nuke to make it into this competition. Just wondering about the 4K format. The original format we had was 2.40 in 2K. So that means rendering it into 4096*1706. Guess it's ok to letterbox the film right? It doesn't have to be 4K FF?

I just might submit one we just shot last weekend... Now let's see if we can pull off all those 4K VFX by then... Great opportunity to say what great times we had shooting 2 EPICs and 1 Scarlet with no hiccups whatsoever anyway :)
