  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shot on RED Film Festival extended to November 8th

I believe it, didn't you shoot and do post on The World After in one week?

Yep. With VFX in 4K. Might have to pull together "insanity driven" short like that.

Had such a blast last year! I'm making preps for my next one so hopefully I'll see you again in 2014 :)

Cheers!

The Shot on RED film festival does not have criteria for submissions so all entries are welcome and are eligible for screening.

That's fantastic! I'll send you guys 2 shorts. No competition needed.

Would love to see it there!

Cheers,

Sergio

"i'm very much hoping to see some red footage (especially dragon) projected at 4k, that's like... the whole point of the experience.[/QUOTE]"

I'm hoping to win the festival, but I'm not famous like Probst and don't have a Dragon which puts me at a disadvantage when they are giving away prizes. Winning is the whole point of the experience for me and in order to win anything you need to know what your competition is.

So I guess the anwser is yes there will be a dragon sensor submissions. Is that why they pushed the date so people with Dragons could go shoot things?

I don't think that's the reason. I submitted my feature last year and was a finalist but it never happened...and so i was invited to re-submit this time around.

Let's face it: there are only so many 4K mastered features out there, but this is changing. We proved it can be done quite inexpensively -although we didn't have any V/FX.

The submission period was extended by request from users who needed more time. We want the best two days of 4K screening possible

All entries will be judged fairly - our winners last year had great images and stories and I expect the same this year.

It's a shame I had to master my short film in 2K, lots of slow mo shot on Scarlet and Red One at 2K and I didn't want to scale it up. :(

I'm certain talent trumps camera gear.

Agreed. A great cinematic mind could take an 8mm movie camera and a razor blade and create truly compelling content. Not in 4k perhaps but sometimes pixel count gets a little more credit than it deserves. I doubt the difference between an MX and Dragon is going to drag down a great story line. At least I would hope not.
Good luck to all of you competing.

Random question. Is an UHD 4K resolution piece acceptable? 3840x2160 or is that out of bounds?

Thanks.

+1, would be nice to know how strict formatting requirements are (i.e. aspect ratios)

thanks for all the info, brian (:

another question... if i send some tennessee whiskey along with my drive, will that help? ;)
