We have received alot of people requesting a few more days to finish up their submissions, so we are extending the deadline to Nov 8.

Finalists will be notified on Nov 18 .

Our friends at Nvidia are now providing a K6000 card to the winner to sweeten the pot alongside the Epic Camera package and Sharp 4K TV.

Just curious. I checked the submission formats. Don't you screen 4K DCP's ? What is your screening facility ?

Thanks Jarred and congrats for this initiative.

4K DCPs are fine. Screening is at the Saban.

Jarred, can we submit international clips "outside of competition"? I just did a short film. I think its interesting, very local, narrative driven. To know it was screened would be cool! 12 minutes duration with Credits. Fully edited and mastered at 4K.

It would be nice, if you find time, to post some pictures of your theater, to make everyone jealous ;-)

yesss! haha, thank you jarred... gettin crazy here putting something together :)

questions.

should i fill out an application both as a festival entry and for the sharp competition (in case i don't fit sharps thing the way they like or something i'd still like a chance to just have the short in the regular fest)?

also, are audio samples okay (like, in the form of a legitimate remix)?

and most importantly regarding legalities, i'm not completely giving up my image rights am i (as in, i can still reuse my images/audio later - even for profit purposes)?

+1, what about a special foreign film category?

Are you going to accept short films shot on Dragon? That would be a little unfair IMOH.

my understanding is the festival isn't just about technical aspects of filmmaking - it's about high quality digital cinematography, something red cameras have been doing since the days of red one. obviously dragon is a huuuuuge improvement in a lot of areas, but that doesn't have anything to do with whether your content is compelling. i'm very much hoping to see some red footage (especially dragon) projected at 4k, that's like... the whole point of the experience.

Guys, our SHOT ON RED film fest production team is monitoring this thread and noting comments/suggestions....

Paul,

Fill out both applications, there is no harm there and they are reviewed separately. You can reuse your images and audio for any purpose, of course.

Ownership of audio clips used in samples should follow copyright laws and practices.

The Shot on RED film festival does not have criteria for submissions so all entries are welcome and are eligible for screening.

My producer is being producery. Gonna try to knock something out next week for this if we can get that worked out this week.
