  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Setting up GROUP BUY for batteries!

Do PAG batts show percentage levels in LCD with V-mount plates other than the APU-IDX?

Also, is there a price estimate?
 
guessing there is no AB mount version?
 
I just got OFFICIAL word from PAG... here is what they've told me regarding questions from others (dropped in other PAGlink posts on RU http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?85395-PAGlink-Battery-system-review&highlight=PAGlink): (I hope this helps answer some of your questions)

This is from David Hardy, PAG Quality & Technical Director

  1. I see nothing on the Manios website that says you cannot run a Red camera from one PL96e. It only suggests that NO MORE than 3 are linked for use on a camera (for ergonomic reasons). Of course you’re correct. We’ve all run Epics and Scarlets from a single battery – the consumption is quite moderate, and a single battery can run for nearly two hours.
  2. Paglink batteries will not void the Red warranty. We know Red
    UK very well and they have been very helpful to us with loan equipment etc. The Red guys from
    USA have also been very supportive – no problems there.
  3. The software has now been developed to give percentage state of charge in the viewfinder on Epic and Scarlet models. The software is currently being proven by one of our local customers – Michael Lindsay – who has been most helpful. We’ll confirm the full release shortly.
  4. Anton-Bauer chargers are not able to charge PAG or any other V-Mount battery no matter what adaptor is used.
As for the price? It depends on the total number of units we purchase. I'm shooting for a minimum of 200 batteries... So far we are at about 130 from committed folks... Many others have expressed interest, but they say it depends on the price and I understand that. I'll let you know as soon as PAG shares the pricing. Hopefully today or tomorrow!

Will,

Unfortunately, there is NOT a "gold mount" version of this battery. That mount is a proprietary mount of the company that invented it. V mount batteries are used by many companies. I understand your plight... I was in the same boat. In fact, I still HAVE many gold batteries. I decided that I would use the IDX Gold Mount to V mount adapter, allowing me to opportunity to use either system on my camera, monitors, LEDs, etc. It's working out GREAT!
 
Curt - I said I was "interested" but gave no numbers. I don't imagine that puts me in the "committed" list so, just for the record - I am happy to commit at pretty much any reasonable discount for 2-3 batteries and a charger.

Thanks Terry. You were right! I had you in the "interested list!"

I'm shooting for a minimum of 20%. If we can bring in larger numbers, perhaps that discount can grow!
 
Truth is that I could go for 10 to 20 units or more, many more, possibly even up to 50 or 100, since all our LED lighting also runs on V-Lock batteries.

But the price discount really needs to be a good one, do to the fact of two other companies willing to offer a substantial discount. SORRY GUYS, this is absolutely only for my use would not be able to offer discounts to any other.

I need to test this first Curt, what can you arrange in Rome? Even Just 2 of them could do, I have two chargers, one from Bebob Rouge and one form Blue Shape.

Curt - if you manage to get a 20% discount (or more) I will purchase 10 of these… I'm gonna buy them anyway, so I might as well take advantage of a price break.

Question is: do these ship from the UK? or from a U.S. distributor? If from the UK - do they charge VAT on items shipped outside of the UK? Or is it like when I buy from US - not tax on purchase, but Canadian tax on import.
 
What is the starting price the discount will be based on? I've seen the street price on them here in the US but I'm assuming the discount will be on the Direct buy price from Pag?

I'll word the question this way- if a battery plate displays % when powered by a Red Brick, will that same plate display % with a Paglink?
 
I'm also interested but will be contingent upon price.
